Which .338..rum,nosler,sm,edge

Looking to have a .338 built. Mostly to ring steel but elk and moose when I feel it's needed. I handload for all my rifles and have been very successful with all of them. The 338-300prc and 338 edge both have me very intrigued but finding components and dies appears to be difficult for any .338 at this time.
I've read tell my brain hurts on many different .338 chambers and still haven't came to a solid conclusion.
If anyone with hands on experience with these care to share there thoughts I would very much appreciate the help

Little more information is needed. What sort of ranges are you looking at? magfed or single shot? Is there a particular action you're looking to build on? any sort of weight limits?

Planning on steel targets to 1200yds, hunting targets to 800ish, hoping to build on existing remington 700, repeater is a plus but not required. Weight goal is 10lbs bare gun 13lbs scoped with 14oz all titanium suppressor(already ordered waiting on stamp)

Have had 338 win mags, have friends with lapuas and edges, ill take my 340 Wby, all day, every day. All the perf of the lapua, cheaper reloading components, can easily buy factory ammo if you ever need/want to and the only reason they can out speed the 340 is the fact that the 338-378, rum and edge burn SO much more powder. 340 is an elk sledge hammer and did the same to 9 of 9 African animals w/ 9 shots.

We just had two Edges built for no other reason than my kid wanted matching 338 guns in a non-wildcat no one we know has. Placed action order Feb 21 to get it started. Took Defiance 8mo to get us actions. We had all the parts but the actions including scopes, brass, dies, rings, stock, bullets, et all within six months. We even purchased some extra powder the last couple months to not dig into the normal stock, and I think the most we paid was for H1000 at 55/lb. Also got some US869, Retumbo, R33 in the same price range. I refuse to pay the gouging prices being charged by many companies. It took the smith a little over four months to get them finished as he was/is swamped. Mailed final check yesterday and will get them shipped to us next week as we cant afford the fuel to drive and pick them up. I checked yesterday and there is still ADG brass readily available 114/50. I wanted the correct head stamp as we have 300RUM's so I had to take it in the rear for the ADG brass. We purchased 200 months ago, and just ordered 200 more yesterday.

I went with an Edge because I already had a mountain of 300 RUM brass. ADG has Edge brass come up fairly regularly. Whidden always seems to have dies. Bullets, powders and primers will be the same for any of the 338 offerings.

Yep high performance is not compatible with gas mileage. Top Fuels don't burns 20 gallons or more of Nitro not gasoline for one 3 second run. Not going to happen on a pint of fuel. Every car made will do 115mph, dang few will do a true 150mph.

I can't say I met a .338 I didn't like. The standard RUM is what I use, and likely would go that way again.

I'm generally more concerned the rifle platform fits the intended use. Any of the larger .338's will get it all done.

338 Norma if you want to shoot the heavies over the 338 Lapua. You can find brass and you have all the right powder

I don't ever believe in such a thing as overkill for a rifle unless speaking in terms of recoil or maybe case capacity if shooter doesn't feel necessary. I always say shoot the cartridge that will adequately gets everything done you need. In your case, the 338 Win mag probably would get it all done. I'm in your camo however in the 338/300PRC thought. Steps up the 338 WM but keeps recoil manageable and certainly fits the bill. My 338 LM gets everything done that's needed but at a cost. More powder, Lapua action and upper end recoil for the 338. No complaints from me as none of those bother me. Most of my buddy's don't feel the same way. I own a 338 WM and it's an awesome cartridge as well and will get most of it done also. Just not the steel ringer at a mile that the Lapua is.

I like the good ole 338 RUM but there's mag length issues with any RUM.

For the ranges you're looking at I'd look at the 33 nosler or if you want a bit more pop you may look into a 33-28 Nosler.

If you want to maximize performance with the 300 grainers then I'd step up to the Lapua sized case.

The 338 norma is a great way to go with standard length mags for sure.
