Best 10mm 1911 frame handgun for hunting?

Kimber 1911s went through some rough times with quality control. Early Kimbers were known as the best factory built 1911s on the market. The fame went to their head and they turned out inferior quality firearms for years. To name a few thing I routinely repaired on the them was poor slide to frame fit. MIM parts breaking or binding because the mold lines were not properly ground off. Barrels not fit properly and would need tweaking.
On the other hand When CZ bought Dan Wesson they started on a product improvement campaign. They Started using CNC machining. They Bought Ed Brown small parts and had some of the best fitting and crisp triggers available. Latter as they improved their own manufacturing capabilities they made all their small parts in house. Today their 1911s are some of the best value in factory produced pistols in the USA. I will say that of late Kimber has improved their quality control. They had to improve or go out of business.
There are some really nice Kimbers out there but it depends on when they were manufactured.
As far a I know any Dan Wessons made by CZ have been nice guns.

When my life depends on it I carry a Sig, any of P220/226/228/229 SA/DA choose your caliber. Good enough for Texas state troopers, navy seals, and more select forces. And yes it's an opinion!

A lot of SEAL's carry the SIg A lot of them still prefer the Beretta 92FS
I had both, 92FS not in the same class as P226, I still have my West German P226 from 1986. Love it. And the Texas State trooper edition P226 in 357sig and and 229 on 40s&w! I would put them against any modern semi in the same caliber. Maybe an opinion. Maybe an experience. I know, not American company, but now mostly made in the US

I have the 226 in 357sig also and it's an excellent gun!

wait, what? I thought this was a 1911 thread? 😂 😂 😂

Just kidding Bean...I love these tangents every now and then, and after spending most of my time talking about things LR, it's fun to slow down and talk 25-50 yards at 1200fps or so
You are right! It was a 1911! Though I still like the Sig1911 feel, I truly have no experience other than old service colts 1911.. John Browning designed the 1911 and the Browning 9mm which the Sigs are based on.

I'm just poking, which I tend to do after I've had my dinner and a beverage or two.

I love all of my 1911s (and miss the 3 or 4 I no longer have), and I have a Mark 25 P226 that I'm quite fond of as well. And my Buckmark that I have suppressed for teaching the boys marksmanship....all have a "similar" feel to one another, are solid as a rock, and joys to use.

The old service Colt 1911 I was issued rattled like a baby toy. Functioned fine. Nothing compared to my Kimber of Oregon.

I recently sold my Glock 10mm because it just didn't fit me very well. I want to get another 10mm for whitetail and hogs and put an rmr on it for 75 yards and in hunting here in Texas.

I've done some quick research online, but does anyone have any experience with a 1911 frame 10mm that they like? Here's a few models that I've read about and are considering (don't want to spend $3k+ on a setup - so no Nighthawks or high end Kimbers, Dan Wesson's etc.)

Kimber Custom TL II
Kimber KHX Custom
Springfield TRP Operator
Springfield Ronin
Remington R1 long slide

Thanks for the help!
I have a G20, had it since I was in Panama before, during and after Just Cause and the Army dropped the 1911 for the little 9mm. It's a bit heavy but I don't mind it at all, it served it's purpose with distinction. The only change I've made is to put on a low profile fiber optic Tactical Aiming Solutions TAS rear sight. Best holster sight I've ever used, fits perfectly in my Safariland 6376 holster without any modifications. Anything it hits with a 180gr JHP isn't getting up.
But I've been looking for something a bit more concealable in 10mm. If I had to make a choice from your list it would be the Springfield Armory TRP Operator as my #1. #2 would be the SA Ronin. My REAL choice would be a Nighthawk!
Good luck with your choice.

What time frame are you referring to on kimber 1911s ? From the time kimber first offered 1911s up till 2010, I never saw an issue and I sold 100s for them, from basic classic customs to super match models. The one and only issue, if you called it that, was a required couple hundred round break in period to gain absolute reliability. The only brand we carried that had truly terrible slide fit was Colt . We called them rattletraps . We carried an occasional Dan , but not enough of them for me to have an opinion. Never had issues with Sigarms or Beretta , but they were a different style of pistol than the 1911s , with the exception of the sig 1911s that we only had a couple of as well.
