Does the Creedmoor really need more??? I don't think so! With this pure copper 85gr Hammer Hunter™ running around 3400 fps plus, it makes the Creed a 400 yard point blank range rig. We just finished developing this one. With this guy being able to run in the 3450 fps world out of a Creed, at 2000 ft elev it is a 400y point blank range combo! Still running at 2077 fps at 500y. No recoil and legit 500y capability. This one should be fun! We will have @ButterBean running a 6.5 Creed yet!
Was at a local gun shop the other day. They had a 14 inch proof research SBR bolt gun, in 6.5 CM with a can on it. The coolest concept gun ever. The shop owner said it was built for running 100 grain or less bullets. This 85 grainer would be perfect.
What's the twist rate?
I would shoot larger game and I know people have with the creed but you wouldn't do it in the 650-800yd range. While I've never done it myself, I've seen plenty of bangflops at 800+ yards with the good ol 65-284. Considering what speed the bullet is going out of that cartrige there's no reason the 65prc can't do the same since it has more powder capacity (correct me on that one if I'm wrong). Also.... When you realize that the same 140-147g bullets out of the creed is going the same speed at 400-650y as the 65-284 and 65prc is going at 800 then you can definitely use it. The Elk don't care what barrel the bullet came out of its how fast and hard it hits when it gets there.
I never said you couldn't use it for elk. I only said I use my 6.5 Creed for "deer size critters". I have all 3 cartridges you mention but I primarily run the 140 Berger's out of my 6.5-284. I have not changed that load in over 10 years and have no intention at the moment. If I do I'll run the heaviest Hammer Hunter I can which is the 123 and it will be a grass burner for sure. I have a older Savage 116, 6.5-284 Weather Warrior, and I'm pretty sure it's a 8 twist but it's a tack driver with the 140 Berger's. Anyways....cheers

Exactly ! There's a myth that you need XXXX foot pounds of energy to kill an elk, the lowest I've heard was 1,000 and the most was 2,200 ft/lbs. A bow and arrow could never generate this much yet many elk meet their demise by stick and string.... If you know what you are doing you can make the right bullet and cartridge work. A member took a water buffalo with a 181 Hammer Hunter that punched thru both shoulders....

Worked on the Buenas Aires Ranch in the late 70's early 80's. Had a camp down by the Santa Mareguita ranch. Loved that country.
Very nice. I've hunted the area for 35+ years. That's a beautiful ranch ( both) and still there.
Don't know if it's a trick, but I crimp mine after I seat and none of em move. I vibrate the powder in to get room for the bullet so they're fairly compressed.
With the results I've gotten so far I'll pay a dollar apiece all day every day. Folks don't understand til they experience it for themselves. When you see a boar hog just shy of 300 lbs fold up like you hit him with a sledge and its a 98 gr bullet you put behind his shoulder it's impressive to say the least. Can't wait for this upcoming deer season.
