New Cartridge 6.8 Western

Right, I'm with you there. I'm just saying they don't make a 175, and haven't really been in the business of making long, sleek bullets. I wonder if they're going to make their own, or source it outside.
I would say they would source it, since the tooling is a bullet related expense. Evidenced by so many boxes of ammo out there with Berger, Swift and others.

With the new production of 165/175 matrix, 170 eol, and 165 ABLR, I say there are a variety of good 277 long range bullets. Lot batter than 5 years ago! I have a bunch of matrix/eol bullets and an 8tw barrel in the safe, trying to figure out what to build.......27/28 Nosler is the way I'm leaning right now.

Till the bullet companies bring out more 257 and 277 bullets these are not viable long range calibers. Especially when I can just go up .007 and have a 7mm with a huge assortment of long range bullets. Or go up the same .007 from a 25 and have a 6.5 with a huge assortment. Amazing what .007 can do. Till then the 270 and 257 will be forgotten by most of the true long range crowd. Sucks for me because I'm a huge 257wby fan. So I can do a fast twist 257 and have one bullet or go to 6.5 and have over a dozen. Same goes for the 270. Yes I think a 6.5 wsm would easily out sell any 270 made.
Shep
I had I wife that calibrated like that once😎

That would be a lead laser...

270 WSM brass has been broken since it was introduced,
Very capable cartridge, just chity brass design. Jmtcw
In fact, I got several different cases( all labeled with reloading data used, per) with load count for sale.
Have owned a few of these; drinking the 270 WSM Koolaid

They are all just nervous, Sherman's line of cartridges are gonna set the Barr for twist rates and case design.
Go Mr. Sherman !
I have 3 different Sherman cases, all on quality high end barrels. None will do the speeds advertised without trashing brass. Saami cases have a psi limit of 66k psi. I gurantee top end Sherman rounds in a lot of peoples guns are above 80k

Some people think that extra 100fps is worth having brass last 3 shots. I personally believe that my brass lasting 12 shots is worth the 100 fps loss.

That is precisely why the 7mm Mashburn is so cool. Make it from cheap, plentiful, strong .300 Win brass. Use a slow powder and the cases last a long time.
