What's the best shooting related finds you've gotten at a garage sale or estate sale?

I bought a winchester model 70 300 wsm, freshly rebarreled for 300 bucks. the guy was older and was moving down to smaller calibers as he stated he was to old to get in the mountains and hunt and pack out elk.

Ive had a few, this past weekends estate sale was hard to beat though. There was a lot of stuff. The seller offered me the entire table for 400.00 but my budget was 200 as ordered by the commander in chief (I kind of overextended the gun budget this month). So i got 100 worth. Two full sets of Uniflow meters with micrometer stems on stands and a partial body of one more, kinetic bullet puller with a set of inserts, a collet die bullet puller with all the collets, another two sets of micrometer stems along with the originals a set of 300 win mag match dies, an unopened pound of powder, new can of gun scrubber, a big set of fly tying thread with scissors and other tools, case length checker, lube pad, brick of primers ,funnels and several other accessories.

I didn't make the estate sale....but a friend did. It was in the early '70's, and I was making less than $100.00/week. I ended up with a 10 cavity Hensley & Gibbs .358 148 grain WC mold, a set of 30-30 dies (Redding), a set of 30-06 dies (Redding), an Ideal powder measure, and other stuff I've forgotten.... for "nickels on the dollar"! For a 20 year old shooter/hunter with a family and very limited income.... it was like winning the lottery! memtb

Almost forgot this one: Soon after moving to Wyoming (1985 or 86) I was 100 or so miles from home, doing some shopping and heard of a garage sale. When I arrived, it was over and they where picking up unsold items. I walked away with a "like-new" Remington Model 700 Heavy Barrel Varmint .223 Rem. for $200.00 (if memory serves me).

I have found a lot of great deals over the years, but one stands out. Guy had a banquet table 10-12 feet long, so loaded with ammo it was bending in the middle. I was there about two hours before the stated start time, and was graciously offered the chance to look early. I asked for some prices. He told me he would take $100 for all of it if I took it now. I help up just one box of vintage ammo and told him it was worth $100. He didn't care, just wanted it all gone, so I loaded my hatchback, and the rear was hanging low. There were 15 bricks of just .22 ammo. Lots of vintage ammo from early 1900's, lots of sporting ammo. I paid and gave him a big thank you. I don't think I will ever beat this sale.

My best was 270 Vickerman seating die in the box still wrapped in wax paper for $10, considered that a steak.

Best out of the way gun store buy was a Martini 1215 target rifle for $135, in great shape. So a steal.

1970's colt 1911 gold cup match lightly used- $350-- sold for $1200
almost had a springfield trapdoor for $300, but a guy beat me to it

SO, since you almost made all of your money back selling 2, you can keep one for yourself and sell me the last one for $500. You will break even and have three happy people !!
