Felt recoil

Noob question here. I'm currently shooting a .300 RUM mainly for hunting, but I'm wanting to go to a caliber with less recoil. I've narrowed my choices to a 6.5 PRC, 7mm mag, and the .300 wm. For those who have experience with all of these, is there a major difference in recoil between all three? Obviously the 6.5 is going to be less than the others and there are a lot of factors that go into felt recoil, but is the gap big enough to go with a newer round like the 6.5 PRC?

Thanks for your input!

Instead of going to a different rifle/caliber
Have you thought about a dead mule or two in the butt of your stock
Absolutely pull the recoil back to nothing
And cost is nothing compared with a rig change
Just a thought
Cheers

Gentry muzzle brakes throw the sound forward, great at recoil reduction. NO more side port muzzle brakes for me, they destroy your ears, terrific concussion on your head.

Tell me a bit more about these brakes please I really like the idea of the sound going forward
I have a terminator T3 on my .300WM and my 31 kg 10 year old grandson shoots the rifle its the one in my avatar
My grandson fired a shot a couple of months back and I didn't have my ears on ,strewth I thought both my ears were finished for good, and I was a ways behind him.

I looked at their website and it appears its a radial brake with ports slightly canted forward. Anything more special than that?

Is it less recoil for practicing or for hunting or both?

I sell a Two piece brake, the brake has a shroud around it to help redirect the sound forward. It does help for sure but you still need your ears on. However if you forget it's no where near as painful! If you are interested I can ship you one to try...if you like but it...if you don't just ship it back!

Gentry, puts a LOT of the sound and concussion off of YOU!!!

If you hunt with out ear protection, your ears are in serious trouble with side port brakes.

It is always best to use electronic ear muffs when hunting, then your hearing is protected and you hear 3x as good as a human with good hearing!

Also, consider walker game ears for hearing protection.

So far I can't find them over here
But I'm still looking,I love the recoil reduction with the Terminator T3 but wow the back blast is unbelievable hay !!!

How much difference (quieter) would say my .300 WM be with a Gentry muzzle brake ?????
And would it reduce the effect of reducing the recoil????

I have experience with all 3 and the 7mmwm and 300 both have noticable recoil but not bad when hunting ! The 6.5 is very accurate and has less recoil than the 7mm & 300 !

I have a Shrewd on my Rum. Same concept but no ports on the bottom and have to be timed like a gilled brake. They are not as effective as a gilled brake, but have a lot less blast. Works good enough at recoil reduction to make the rifle tolerable to shoot, but impossible to spot hits under 400yds. Everything is a trade off.

The Muscle brake on my 338 NM has no back blast to the shooter or even if you are standing next to the shooter. Much prefer slabbed brakes over radial for prone shooting.
