.25 cal 131g .330G7 bullet from Blackjack Bullets for you to drool on ...

Not very, the heel of the boat tail is just at the body shoulder junction. If I could get about .020 farther out, I'd be happier. It's not terribly far in

How far off the lands were you at that length?

The good thing about this combo is that it's not like you need to utilize every last bit of case volume to get performance. 3200 with that BC is pretty good.

I've been thinking about building an Ackley version. Don't really need it at all but I think it'd be fun and I've never owned an Ackley.

Fellas,

It's true. There's an affordable High BC and extremely efficient for weight 257 on the market, and we've done the legwork of getting blanks available in one location.

We've been working on this project over 2.5 years - our first tech drawing was created a little over 2 years ago and although the design has undergone a few revisions it ended up 0.032" longer and 0.8 grains lighter than the first draft.

The production run of bullets will be available for sale in mid-July!

We have 95 "fast twist" barrels coming in the next few weeks - 20 Bartleins, 20 Kriegers, 25 Liljas, 10 Rock Creeks (which will be shipping in 1-2 weeks), and we will finalize an order for 100 X-Caliber blanks in the next few days. We actually have 4 Rock Creeks that are not spoken for so if you'd like to reserve one of them hit me up on Facebook at facebook.com/blackjackbulletco. We will begin taking reservations on the Krieger Blanks next Wednesday the 27th when they are listed "in-stock" on the website.

Anyhow, we have spent considerable time, money, and energy getting these fast twist blanks to be available before or at sales-launch of the BlackjackBullets.com webstore. We have also ordered 25 Creedmoor and 25x47 Lapua reamers from Manson and JGS to get all of the best Tactical/Match gunsmiths ready to chamber as barrels arrive.

We tested the BC over two days shooting across an Oehler 88 System (dual chronograph + TOF) running the 131 grain Blackjack ACE out of a 25x284 using H4831SC (This information and more is on Blackjackbullets.com/news).

Running the 131 ACE at 2940 fps the 1000 yd average was 0.330 G7. At 3140 fps the bullet tested out at 0.333 G7. Not too shabby. During the tests we had switching winds and still kept 1/2 MOA on 4-5 shots at 1000 and when we finished strings with 10-12 shots they were still sub MOA even with me and my shooting partner way out of practice since I've been working and doing business stuff and he's been busy in the machine shop.

It's a great bullet and we can't wait to get them out to you guys. For you guys sitting on the fence, there will be A SECOND Blackjack 257 bullet hitting the market in 8-10 months which is specifically tailored for Long Range Hunting. The 131 ACE will work great in many hunting cartridges but was specifically designed to maximize the ballistics of 25x47 and 25 Creedmoor from short action magazines. The combination of barrel life, BC, and Velocity is truly hard to beat in 2.880" short action magazines common to "match" rifles.

Anyhow, there will be more load-development, product announcements, and news being posted on the facebook page, website, and here on Long Range Hunting.

I just activated a new account here 257 Blackjack so if you see a reply from that account it is the eventual sponsored account I will be taking up once it's activated.

Thanks!

I usually don't consider a bullet to have a high B.C. unless it's at least .500 or better but with the 25-06 even though that can be hard to find Sierra has a 117gr., .257 bullet with a .410 bc and Berger has a 115gr. that's in the high .400's bc , both capable of 3,000+fps.

I think you are confused about BCs. This is a bullet with a .345 g7 that's something like a .67 g1. Also, my 25-06 will push 115 Bergers closer to 3300 fps out of a 24" barrel.

Anyone have any range reports on a 25 PRC or SAUM? Would love to push these bullets 3200+ from a 26" tube
Put a 26" 1:7 Hart barrel chambered in 25 PRC one of my M70 WSM actions a couple of weeks ago. Using 131gr blackjacks. Had to push them to 3240 with 56.5gr Retumbo for best accuracy but holding together well with consistent 1/2 MOA. They are on the 1200 yard plate in a hurry. No experience on game yet but suspect the faster rotation and velocity will deliver nicely even with the matchking design. Would be interested in hearing experience others have had on large game using 131gr blackjacks

I ended up at 3150 in a 28" Krieger using 55 gr. of RE 26. No pressures signs at all and it's shooting great! I went up to 55.5 and still no pressure. Could probably go up another 2-3 grains but, I'm not going to push it. I started out wanting 3100 fps without pressure signs or loose primer pockets, so I'm happy.

Here is another very good option! 25sst maxes at 3350'+ with a 26" barrel and coal to the lands of 2.860". Head stamped brass by ADG and reamers and brass in stock

Dang, I just finished my 25-284. A load has been worked out and now it takes its place in the safe. Sadly, I don't shoot as much as I used to but, I still like to have them built! Hmmmm, I wonder if I need a 25SST? Brass already available, it's probably a no brainer. Gotta talk to Blackjack first to see how they feel the bullet would act going 3350+.

Don't run a 1:7 at that fps, 7.5 or 8 twist is what they recommend for magnum speed. My 25 saum will wear a 1:7.5 proof sendero carbon. Reamer and barrel going to hells canyon today.

I shoot at 1000ft elevation and run a 7.25twist on my 25SST although I think 7.5-8 would be ideal, 26" rock creek, mag feed. The 131's seem to run just fine past 3300 fps so far with 500 rounds through the barrel. rl-26 or N570 work well for 3300+.

This load shot over the chrono was max with h-1000. Easily shoots under half moa out to 1000.

There is a node with N570 at 3385fps with 62grains but its to hot. The next node down was at 3320fps.

My next 25SST barrel will be a 22" proof to run my suppressor on. Should be able to run the 131's
At 3200fps with N570.

Yeah, it would be a 7.5-8. This would be easy...I already have a worked up 700 SA. I would have to shoot single shot but, that's no big deal for me.
I put an AICS box in my SA 700 for a 308.
All I did was spread the feed lips .080" and removed the front plate. It feeds smooth as silk and gives me room to spare

the bullet runs very well at 3400 fps. It just earned 2nd place in Open Division at the Nightforce Q Creek ELR amongst 200 competitors with targets from 800 - 2100+ yards.

This was a 1:7.5" twist and the shooter ran his 25 SAUM up to 3500 but the Hornady brass would not take it. More ADG brass testing for this 32" rifle soon.
