Blackjack Bullets, No Longer??

134 eldm are out in the wild being tested. A guy I know received a 500ct bag from Hornady, only labeling one them was 257 134 eldm. Hope to hear positive reports. He tested the 133 hunter on several deer this year, had a lot of penciling unless bone was contacted.

The 133 elite hunter penciling? Although not my most favorite, I've shot maybe a dozen axis does and maybe the same amount of feral goats and had massive expansion on every single one, even on bad shots in the gut. It was out of my 25-06 AI at 3200 fps from 20 yds out to 400 yds. Maybe he got a bad batch?

I'm excited to see the 134 eldm but it would be hard to beat the 135 Berger hybrids!!

Yup, they wouldn't ezpand unless you caught bone on entrance. Hes running then in a 25 creed, 400fps slower than you, and ranges were 300-720y, so def slowed down compared to your rifle.

Berger has 133 and 135 grain 25cal. That's the direction I'm heading with mine.
I have some 131 BJs (thanks to a dear friend), Berger 133s/and 135s, but also jumped to Black Hole offerings (https://blackholebullets.com/see-products), in particular the 145s.

Hm, 133gr penciling?? I've been shooting the 135s since they came out in a 25 creedmoor. About a dozen or so animals from pronghorn to cow elk. Never had one "pencil". If shooting through the ribs at lower impact speeds (2200-2400) I have had exit wounds but never a pencil. And never had one go far.

That being said I don't fully trust them much below 2200fps, but that's getting way out there.

Anecdotal:

based on personal observation, case study reports, or random investigations rather than systematic scientific evaluation: anecdotal evidence.

This type of communication occurs frequently in most forums. It's not wrong, it's just what we say and how we say it without documentation or collateral backup. We all do it, yes even me.;)

However, nowadays, it appears more frequently that the division between supporting information and denying the information comes into that proverbial 50/50 division. Oh well.

I've been testing and hunting with all three, 131 ACE, 133/135 Berger in a variety of cartridges from 25 WSSM, .250 Savage Imp. up to and including .257 Weatherby. Most testing was done on hogs which are plentiful. In dozens of excursions, I have never had a pencil through shot. All bullets performed and the hogs died without shoulder shots. All were shot using suppressed rifles.

That being said I don't fully trust them much below 2200fps, but that's getting way out there.

We all pick the parameters we believe fit our style and desires. Mine have functioned down to 1,800 fps which is as far as I'll run them. Different strokes for different folks.:)

Enjoy!

:)
