What do you regret buying?

I regret not going to college. Stay in school kids!

I regret buying really anything hornady and rcbs. Except for my Chargemaster. I have a good one.

Whidden dies
Universal funnel
Rcbs case prep center
Toyota Tacoma
Gempro/dandy trickler
Magneeto v3

I'm sure there's more. I've done my best to buy once cry once while trying to be content.

Its designed to use your own brass, that has been fired in your rifle. But it is not always that easy to tap and get right. So they supply many ''brass case gauges" but these do not usually match your chamber and ad in more miss information. So I prefer the sinclair set up better. Also the Sinclair consinetrisity gauge has been more precise than the hornady

The Hornady made case tool is fine. You just need to know the difference in shoulder measurements between their undersized case and your fired case sized the way you like it. It's just doing a little math and you can get a precise distance to the lands with fired brass sized the way you like it (I.E. .002" shoulder bump.)

Shouldn't have to do any math. The only thing that matters is a number that your barrel likes best.
If your looking for throat erosion just look at the difference in measurements.
If the Factory case is a little short on headspace thats ok, it errors on the side of safety anyway.
Get a 5/16×36 tap and use once fired brass. No more bitching.

Regrets...
1) buying an optical chrono - have labradar now and should have just started with that
2) Lyman case trimmer - would be great if the set screw actually held it in place
3) buying Ramshot powders - always makes a huge mess
4) regret not getting the chargemaster lite sooner
5) regret not getting quality brass from the start vs reloading various factory ammo from mixed brass
6) have more reloading manuals than I ever need - 99% of what you need can be found for free online so in hindsight, 1-2 good manuals would suffice - more manuals isn't a bad thing, but a place to save $$ for someone starting out

Probably more but, the #1 takeaway I have looking back is the moto, "buy once, cry once".

I'd say a Lee Turret press, trying to make it run better has made it a money pit even though it has been a cheap money pit. I'd have been better off sucking up the costs and buying a progressive press from Dillon or Hornady. I'm still not into it the cost of a basic progressive, but the prime feature and the original disk powder throw sucks. I find myself still decapping and hand priming at my single stage press, then I bought the auto drum powder throw.

hmmmm. just the opposite
i buy used ones at gun shows.
do not like the new lee prime tool but the prior one works well for me.
i mainly do small lots. or for large lots just prime on the dillon 550

I have bought some crap before, but the most recent and worst is the Lee Auto prime and the Lee Precission hand priming tools. I have to use my free hand to hold the plastic cover on the primer tray and every 10th to 15th primer double stacks, and pushed the plastic tray off, then primers turn over. Stop, fully remove cover, unload the upside down or sideways, or doubled primers in the tool, then turn all the primers in the tray the the correct direction, and start again. Seems to be worse with small primers (that is why I have two of these one large, one small) but they are both garbage. I always go back to my K&M. Might be a little slower, but very consisent and probably faster in the long run.

<SNIPPED STUFF>
2) Lyman case trimmer - would be great if the set screw actually held it in place
<SNIPPED STUFF
I had a Forster Case Trimmer w/the same issue. Drove me mad! Cases were getting trimmed shorter and shorter as I went. Didn't matter how tight I tightened the set screw, it would never hold. Wasted too many cases with this device.

Ended up going with the Lee Cutter & Lock Stud system using the cartridge specific case length gauge (pilot.) Chuck it up in my cordless drill and go to town. Every case comes out the same, uniform length. Simple, accurate, cheap. One of the few things Lee makes that I truly appreciate.

That's the ticket.

Wow...a number of thing trying to save a few pennies.
Plastic funnels, bullet pullers, case lube pad, cheap garage sale dies. Then when I did spend the $ on Whidden dies and the "click ring" they were not worth a s...!!! Redding type S, is the only way to go. My wife always tells me to not be cheap, so as I upgrade im not! (lol if she only knew how much $)
Plastic funnel? Please explain I haven't seen this come up before this thread?
