Not trying to say anything, some things just speak for themselves. Fact is though there have always been some who would deny liberty to others, and depending upon which side you sit on an issue can get you labeled in one way or another. For example, we either all now join in favor of bump stocks or those who don't are the enemy. Even though a large percentage of them might have bigger wallets on the gun issue than the mouth they shout with. Which is why the paltry 5 million NRA members, and yet another perfect example. Id be willing to bet that a lot of bump stock owners don't belong, yet expect them to go to the wall for them.

Thats a good point, I hope at least that this serves as a wake up call for those that aren't members of the NRA or GOA to join and get involved.

Here is the thing, there are an estimated 75+ million gun owners in the US. If all of them had joined NRA or GOA, and voted, we would not even be having this conversation.

Ya potus isn't really the position for on the job training but holy crap it was almost another Clinton.. it's really aggravating to watch this bs play out but I am atleast grateful that the man in charge isnt participating in the sit ins and lobbying for the left.

JBS, I am not a veteran, however can say that I bought one of the first, original Colt ARs when they first hit the market. And yes they can be used for personal protection in one's home or property. My post was to present a point that if I "had" to give something up, the "AR" type of military weapon would be my choice because IMO there are other firearms that could be used for personal protection. I carried a Rem 870 for personal protection for nearly 30 years; my choice of weapons for personal protection. And I will fight for 2nd amendment rights until I can no longer fight.

Presently in the town where I live (small, very urban area on the east coast) there is a woman (with political affiliations) who is having a fight with her neighbor because he is shooting in his backyard and she finds the noise offensive, so...................... she has asked the town council to pass a town ordinance prohibiting a person from target practicing in their backyard. The neighbor doing the shooting had been found by the local police to be shooting legally in his backyard according to the laws of this state. At the first council meeting, where the "proposed" ordinance was supposed to be presented, the council meeting had to be cancelled because the council chambers was overcrowded due to the large turnout of people at the meeting!! Town residents, mostly Swamp Yankees, who never really attend council meetings showed up in droves to contest the proposed challenge. I do not know this man (the neighbor), however I can tell you that I led the march in contacting people and getting them out and for contacting the 2nd amendment coalition to get their support to squash the propose ordinance. As I wrote in the previous post, I fear losing my 2nd amendment rights as much as I fear losing a digit or appendage on my body; and.....I will fight to keep my rights and other's rights intact!

Best I can do is convert the $30,000 shotgun only types (AKA Fudds) to support all gun owners when I can and dispel anti gun myths in my coworkers. That and try to get AR owners that I see on the range to vote (for pro 2nd Amendment candidates), and understand that the political left is no friend of gun owners of any type.

Those Swamp Yankees you speak of are a pest, kind of like coyotes. They move into western states/rural areas and try to force their big city/Kalifornia values on everyone else that lives there. I have a friend that lives in a red western state outside city limits, and the urbanites that moved into the area call the police when he shoots on his own land. Good thing is the police only showed up once, now they just tell them that it is his private land and he can shoot on it if he wishes.

Unless a company kept up with all their records of who they sold them to, they're probably about 10-25% traceable, at best. They're not serialized, so people could buy and sell them at will, as if they were selling fruit or crops. No license needed, no background check, no nothing. That's why everyone is laughing about this stupid ban. It's nearly impossible to implement, on top of it being infringing.

Well in case you haven't noticed, Florida is now the third most populated state, and NY has dropped to
number four. And most of them bring their voting habits along also, which explains the last election results. Texas is even closer to tipping to the point of no return than Florida, and if that happens bump stocks wont be an issue, because it's gonna be all over.

I've noticed, in the state I live we have gone from liberty loving to statist in just a few years. Kalifornia refugees bringing their cesspool state with them.

Let's hope the folks in the panhandle reproduce at high rates and homeschool to help save Florida. Same with native Texans

It's gonna take more than that. We cant reproduce fast enough to offset even the current immigration/ border problems and we don't have the time anyway. Don't forget also, abortion is the #1 killer in the country, and who is the big sponser of that?
The corral has been built, all it needs is to have the gate closed, UNLESS we fight our way out and not get all bogged down over small picture issues like bump stocks. Bump the Rino's first.

Note that Romney didn't even wait to get sworn in before announcing (indirectly) that he was going to go up against Trump in 2020. Look for more of the same from Rubio, a former gang of 8 member.

Totally agree 100%!!! I enjoy reading everyone's opinion on here, and have learned a lot from other's opinions and suggestions. When posts start to get ugly and out of control, that ugliness totally takes away the beauty of this forum. With that last post of personal attack, I thought that the poster was going to come out of the computer screen and choke me!!

I usually do not comment on this stuff when it happens, however this one I found to be very offensive and really didn't belong in any forum! We all have opinions and beliefs, and not everyone agrees with everyone's opinions and beliefs, but please act civilized!!!!

My $.02 and a good segway to defuse the current conversation.

The OP has specified legislation due to bumpstocks. I've concluded for myself that most restrictions, excepting those which we seem to agree upon, like automatic weapons or nuclear devices, make zero sense. That being said, what is clearly amiss, is the responsibility to make sure that we speak up clearly and directly, when we know an Adam Lonza, that is mentally ill, does not communicate with his parents, blacks out his windows, etc. and still has free access to guns. No law needed. When we know a friend is going thru tough times with his or her spouse or friend, and we do not tell him to maybe lock up the guns thru this time, we fail in that same responsibility. The 2nd amendment is part of a civil structure. If we view our gun rights as purely and absolutely individual, without a sense of civil responsibility, we fail. No law needed.
