For our bear hunt over bait, my brother in law will be carrying a 6.5 Creedmoor and a 45-70 henry golden boy. I am going to load him with 156 Vulcans, to leave no chance even if we see a 500lb monster. Ha ha.
I too will take a 35 whelen and a marlin 45-70.
We will be employing the alternating rifle techniques. So we will alternate our rifles each day. Whatever we use, I think it'll be enough gun.
When I first read this reply, my initial thought was, "What is the reason for carrying two guns", and almost asked the question?? Then I read the last part about not leaving any room for taking chances! Then........I almost made a Creedmoor remark, but.....I didn't want to start any fights!!! I like really like the 35 Whelen and....the 45-70 for bear hunting. I will be trying the 223gr Shock Hammers in the Whelen this coming season. Good luck with your hunt, and send some photos this way if you connect.
