In my area I plant a mixture of oats, turnips, clover, peas, and radishes.

In my fall plots i plant daikon radish,crimson clover, wheat or oats,and chickory. For my permanent plots i have durana clover. I have mixed in sunflower, peas and soybeans but they are usually eaten time they come up. Have also used rape or turnips. They love the radish eating tops and roots.

we are on the line between 2E and 4D .
we plant about everything that's been mentioned, except corn and soybeans . the thing I didn't see mentioned that we plant is buckwheat .

I also do RR sugar beets, corn, kale, turnips, wheat and oats. Diakons are my favorite.

We will usually plant buckwheat in the spring in fields to help suppress weeds and the deer love it. Great for bugging for turkey's and their poult's also.

Anybody use Small Burnet in their seed mix? Got friend that tried it and as a forb, he claimed deer really targeted it and slobbered over it.

I've had the same plot of small Burnett going for more than 20 years. At certain times of the year the deer go crazy over it, other times they'll feed through it on their way to something else.
I originally got my seed from Kesters wild game seed. Whitetail Institute now has it in a mix, I think it's the imperial extreme.

Interesting thing about small Burnett, in the spring and early summer, if you walk or drive through it, the plants smell like fresh cut cucumbers. That's when the deer are really hammering it.
