What is everyone favorite caliber for deer?

Nice just hunted with my son this last weekend around Binger, OK for youth season. He was shooting his grandpas 6.5 creed. He has used a 7mm08 the past few years which is a great caliber for deer in my opinion.

I was and always will be a 270 win fan. However the last few years I bought into the 6.5 Creed hype and have used one on several hogs, deer, mule deer, antelope and elk. I have to say it works as long as you do your job.

Thinking of building another 270 win though as it is my favorite.

25-06 and 270 have killed for me approx 60 deer in California you get 2 tags per year

.280 Remington is my standby, but I love the 6.8SPC for tighter cover

308 and 30-06 hard to beat. That being said, last 15 deer I've taken were mostly with a 220 swift, but still think 30 cal bullets are best all around. To each their own

That's a hard choice as I've killed whitetails with so many different rifles: 222 Rem, 22-250, 220 Swift, 257 Roberts, 25-06, 264 WM, 6mm Rem, 6.5 CM, 6.5x284, 26 Nosler, 280 Rem, 280 Ackley, 7 RM, 30-30, 300 WM, 300 Wby and 50 cal Hawken! My favorite would be a toss up between one of my 25-06s and my 257 Roberts with the Roberts probably being my all time favorite for whitetail......I couldn't begin to count the deer (and coyotes) I've killed with it as it was my truck gun for nearly 30 years living on the family ranch!

But the 25-06 is still the one I pick up first. I trust it

358 Winchester. A slap down with a 200g RN bullet. No plan to shoot over 300yds or much over 150 really. Nice looking round 308 brass with a 35cal bullet. A real DRT round.

What Will said, in a BLR. Great cartridge that deserves more respect and love.

Don't know what KyCarl calls medium range but I've killed deer out to 400+ yds with 100 gr Partitions, Solid Bases, and Barnes TTSXs out of several 25-06s and my 257 Roberts!
