What is a high velocity bullet?

Merriam-Webster's Dictionary defines
bullet : a round or enlongated missle ( As of lead ) to be fired from a firearm

The term "High-Velocity" is subjective . It has never been defined .

For me , the projectile being propelled out of a gun , whether it be a Rifle , Pistol , Smooth-Bore , or Rail-Gun , must be able to perform at whatever velocity that it is launched from the chosen platform - weapon .

ButterBean , glad to see you back again .

No I have not read all 9 pages of this. But I agree with those who think it is caliber and application dependent. 22LR 1200+, handgun 1100+, 20 cal 4000ish, big game small caliber 3000, big game large caliber 2700. 50cal MZL 2500.

If you are falling and trying to get your chute to deploy, 175fps is high velocity.
Food for your thoughts, big game small caliber
( 30 cal)@ 4200fps ?

I find this thread entertaining and enlightening. Some people seem to take this way too seriously.

I don't think anyone is unhappy but it's been about three months of constant treads being started that are carefully worded so as not to upset the admins (which I personally find very clever) by folks just so they can hear themselves talk or to argue points that they have already set aside preplanned strategic responses for.
But everyone synthesizes information differently so I hope someone is getting something out of it

And don't worry about someone telling you that they were unhappy with your posts, Awhile back I had a few folks tell me that I was ruining this site so don't sweat it too much, if everyone that made a post having to do with Hammer Bullets would just tag you in it right off the bat it would save a lot of time and trouble No offense Intended
