True. I don't always use gauges with personal stuff. Hard to find Gunsmiths that won't use go/no go gauges with the liability now days.

I am deeply invested in the 300 win mag(3 rifles, brass, dies and such) if I was starting over I would take a hard look into the 300prc, but that's just me. Flip a coin and run with it. You can always build something different later. Good luck

Thanks ya'll. I think I'm going to go with 30 Nosler. Manners EH5, maybe EH5A, Defiance action and bottom metal/MB to be determined. Ya'll think the cartridge is going to be around for a while/gain traction? Seems like a great compromise between everything I'm looking for.

With a 26" barrel you can get 2950-3000fps with a 165gr bullet out of a 30-06 and that's not too shabby for a common round.I have a 300WSM and a couple of 300Win Mags and unless I'm planning on shooting way far away,I'm well pleased shooting the 30-06.
