Okay folks, have been meaning to get this done for a few months but life keeps happening, haha.

Anyway heres the plan, keep in mind, im just a bodyman who beats on fenders for a living with a passion for Long Range Hunting and shooting, ill do my best to conduct this review but if you have any questions or want another set of measurements that may help us learn more about the potential of this W3P bullet as a LR hunting bullet let me know.

First off, there was some initial questions regaurding the jacket thickness on this bullet when they first come out. So after I recieved mine I cut one open to see what was going on.

The steel tip weighed 14.1 grains, the jacket measured .021 at the tip, and .025 at the base so it would appear this may be a straight walled jacket or .004 thou taper maybe.........i dont know perhaps some of you bullet makers could offer your thoughts here.

Next I grabbed a handful and weighed them on my Lyman 1000 digital scale, which I calibrated with a 20g check weight 3 or 4 times throughout the process. They were actually very consistant I thought.230.5, 230.6, 230.5, 230.6, 230.4, 230.6, 230.7, 230.6, 230.5, 230.6

The bearing surface near as I can eyeball it with my calipers is around .722 or so.....

Im shooting a Rem 700 Sendero I put together that shoots My 210 berger load a very solid half MOA at 1175 yards.

Rem brass, match prepped, fed 215m primers and Re 33. The OAL To Ogive is 3.177 which is .004 thou off lands. Al has told me these like being close to the lands, so thats where ill start. Also that Re 33 seems to yeild the lower ES numbers when seated closer to or on the lands.........

I have a ladder loaded up from 92-100 grains and will go shoot it in the morning. Im curious as to when this bullet will pressure out compared to the Berger, I know sooner but it will be interesting to see what kind of velocity Ill be able to get.

Then when I have an idea where the node is Ill load some 3 shot test groups and shoot them round robin style to hopefully find that half MOA or better group im after. Ill chrony the ladder and report back.

Then its off to the spot, with Roy, and check drops, discern the BC out to around 1200 and possibly see what they can do at a mile:Dgun)

Pics to Follow.

Heres a few pics so far.

Okay, got the ladder shot today at 301 yards. Bad news is I should have cranked some elevation into the scope. All shots landed at the very bottom of my target, might have to reshoot this but the seven shots that did make it on target looked good.....possibly 2 nodes showin.

I rezeroed rifle with my 210 load at 100 yards since the recent Nightforce NXS and 40 MOA rail upgrade, then went and set a target at 300 with my aim spot near the bottom expecting to be more on target with the 230s, well I was wrong.

Anyway the 4 shot group is 2 blue, green, purple, which was 95,95,96,99 grains. The 3 shots that hit my stand I couldnt make out my colors.......

Each bullet was marked with a sharpie before I shot it to be able to account for it on target, it woulda worked perfect had I cranked some elevation in and actually got all bullets on target........sheez.lol

Was really a terrible day for ladder testin as wind goes pretty steady 8 to 10 with gusts up to 15...... And overcast enough to allow 5 no reads on the Chrony.

Velocitys were as follows...92.0 2757, 93.0 2778, 94.0 2795. 95.0 blue 2814, 95.0 blue no read, 96.0 green 2871, 96.0 green no read, 97 red 2867, 97 red no read, 98 brown no read, 99 purple 2939, 100 no color, no read, hint of sticky bolt and some faint brass swipe on case head.

Ill probably reshoot this test.

Finally, some actual testing on W3P bullets!

Redneck,

Thanks for posting your results. Keep the info coming. Never cared much for published BC data anyway. Want to form my own opinion, based on my own findings and those of others on this site. Thanks for letting us learn on your nickel.

No problem, hopefully by time im done its got some info in here someone can use....... I keep lookin at that 4 shot group, 95,96 and 99 landed in 7/8 CC. Hmm sub half MOA AT 301 yards for three charge weights. I dont think theres gonna be an accuracy concern with these pills. pretty excited.

I'm going to tag in here, I've always like the look of W3P. It'll be interesting to see what the BC's actually come out to.

Good to start getting something, I've got a few 200's down range but I'm having to sort them by bearing surface, weights are very close. Did a seating depth check and next run some powder charges and see if I can get some love from them. Put testing on hold for a couple days of goat hunting.

I know im intetested too........found a thread of Elkaholics where he posted a pic of his 230 next to a berger 230 OTM....... Maybe ill start here when I get to the drop testing, perhaps he'll chime in.

Ill be testing next to the 230 hybrid Target which has slightly better BC than the OTM (.743 vs .719) but this should be a good starting point im thinkin............

I dont know though, where the bergers are hybrids and the W3p is a Vld, maybe I should add a little to the 210 berger vld (.631) and start there?
