Ya right. I wouldn’t load anything over 200 grains with a 1:11. Do some digging around online for some aftermarket tikka bottom metal with mags. You can get quite a bit more. Or file the end of the mag out and you’ll gain quite a bit. I loaded some long and could fit one in the chamber then one in the mag.

I think you have something backwards, more twist more bullet, he's got less twist and needs less bullet to keep stabilized and to have a better time seating.

My 460 Weatherby is 1:16. and shoots 500 gr and 600 gr bullets. My 6.5s are 1:8, my 300s 1:10 so on this assumption you are saying my 460 should be 1: 5?...lighter faster...heavier slower?

No, it's based on cal and bullet length, a 1-16 in your 460 is similar to a 1-10 in your 300 but a 1-18 in your 460 would be like his 1-11 in a 30 cal.

Haha. Looks like just the ticket. I'll have to see if I can track one down. Thanks.

Best load I had was book length 180 SST IMR 4350 Win large rifle mag primer. Straight out of the book top load. Only thing I gained by single load was velocity. Great lite rifles .

Yes i tend to agree. I tried the 210 gr LRAB yesterday and they were pretty average. Loaded some 200 eldx's today. The berger calculator suggests the 208/210/215's will only be marginally stabilised.

190 vld, 200.20x, 200 Hybrid have very short bearing surface which would help and all would kill.

    Hey there,
I have killed animals from elk at 587 yds, and muleys at 600 plus for the past 5yrs with my tikka T3Lite 300 WM. I have found a great factory round that gets the job done (Hornady Superformance 180grn) every animal I shoot goes down no problem with one shot great penetration, expansion, and knock down power in that load. I will say this, understanding long range and your rifle is 90% of the battle :) I had a custom Muzzle Break put on it (due to the gun being so light and I wanted recoil reduction for accuracy) plus I reduced my trigger to just above 2 lbs. The gun literally kicks no harder than a 243 and I have a lot of fun carrying her around shooting varmits out past 700-800 yds! This year I am stepping it up and going for a bit better scope to see what she does out to 1000 plus. My scope needs an upgrade but I am truly confident in this rifle and that bullet as it has never let me down. :)

Thanks Will. I also have put a brake on and lightened the trigger. I've got a leupold vx6 4-24 on top which I love. Is that the SST you're shooting?
