SCHOOLS- no longer soft targets

Trump had a conference today on school shootings. Several young people there speaking out about guns. Trump ask for solutions and some one brought up arming teachers and staff. Trump ask who supports this? Few raised their hand. The kids wanted gun regulation. One young woman threatened we will soon be able to vote and we are coming for you.
The kids aren't even old enough to own guns. Therefore, they can't form true intellectual opinions on guns or gun control. Their opinions on gun regulations should be null and void. That's like asking an illegal immigrant who to vote for...

Trump had another round table meeting today. He brought forth the idea of arming our teachers. They pushed back hard. He said we should let teachers or staff that wanted, with military experience, carry. These individuals should get training and should receive compensation.
Later Fox news did a story about a school or schools in Ohio. This school had lock boxes through out the school. Teachers and staff with training had immediate access.
Great Ideas !!!

......I'm all for defensive measures in schools. With that said I think we need to look at curbing the desire that the evil doers have. I have not yet heard this thrown out.....Steve

I'm aware of only one shooting at a faith based school-and that was a complete outsider at the Amish school.

For "Endowed by their Creator" to have any meaning, one must first believe in a Creator.

I saw one anti-gun rant (supposedly a student) that began with "We have a right to life". The truth is, as a country we fail to define when that right kicks in".

We obsess over which bathroom 0.00... whatever percent of the population should use, but ignore the many schools it's not safe for anyone to use the bathroom, and holding it until you get home is the plan.

We fund totally stupid "stuff" (refrained from using the first word to come to mind) while our schools are a mess.

How much pressure/drugs does it take to turn a boy to a girl, how ignorant to think some won't be totally ****ed about it.

The gun laws we have aren't being enforced, and what kind of society would it take to disarm us? Who wants to live there?

Don't know why I don't have a like button on this thread. I have one on the others. Maybe because I got in too much trouble over the years on the politics forum.

Great comments guys!

I'm watching cnn town hall. These kids are exactly that, kids. I got it they experienced a tragedy, and it's awful, but that doesn't automatically make them experts on constitutional law and the resident experts on determining what rights I'm allowed to have. It's absolutely infuriating seeing how easily they are willing to **** away their rights for perceived safety. I've been around the world, and I have personally seen how ****** people are to each other. To think that people are stupid enough to believe that making some random law will prevent murder, severely under estimate the evilness and resourcefulness of their fellow man. The second amendment is for everyone. If you chose to not use that right, then so be it, but do not limit us on our rights because you're scared.

And now we will wait for this thread to be deleted. After watching CNN tonight I'm signing up for a lifetime membership to the NRA.
Drugs are illegal now, that does not stop a druggy from buying and using them. If a gun is outlawed it will be the same thing, they who want one will get one and use it. I believe that the most people killed in a single attack was the Oklahoma bombing. I think that bombs are illegal but Timothy used one, the unibomber used them. They (bombs) are capable of killing many more people than a firearm will have time to do in most cases. Is this what the antis want? They better be careful what they wish for! Guns are minor compared to a lot of alternatives that haven't even made the seen yet. I will not name them but you can guess what most of them could be. Hope they are never used anywhere.

They have really shot up some religious establishments. Remember one church where many of the church members were helping the young couple, were shot and killed by them. They were terrorists, and they got their just reward. Anyone caught in the act of shooting people should also be shot, take no prisoners.

Maybe teachers carrying isn't as rare as I thought. My daughter told me about another school in Texas. CBS news did a report about a teacher in Colorado. Plus a city in Florida just passed a bill allowing it's teachers to carry. Hopefully the ball will keep rolling and gaining momentum.

In our changing society with terrorism, illegal criminal aliens, random shootings, legalized drugs, the systematic elimination of religion and faith, and a far less mature youth that has replaced "face to face" socialization with digital bliss, etc, etc, etc,...........the 2nd Amendment, IMO, is lmore relevant today then any other time

Liberals have targeted inanimate objects that serve their agenda, and misdirect the consequences of their socialist policies for a long time. It's always intended to weaken our "free" society...still, the only one in the world! These were the "assault weapons" under attack in the late 1800's. It's a fight that will go on forever.

Again since I have no like button....I like all these new posts.

Everyone seemed to know that this latest mass killer was nuts. Those that knew him don't seem to be surprised that he did it. Even our officials new of him and his problems. Political correctness froze our officials and has convinced many of our citizens that if it were not for the tool the whack job would not have hurt us. That is is ok that he is crazy, but bad that there exists a tool that he used to do us harm. These people are truly angry about the weapons and feel sorry for the evil sociopath. They think we should die because we value freedom. It is so upside down.

It only makes sense that we harden the soft target that our schools are. This is a good defensive measure. By doing so we are still sitting and waiting for the next lunatic to give it a go. We really have to consider being proactive about keeping the crazy people away from the rest. It was a mistake to let them all out in the 70's. We are letting them kill us in the name of fairness or kindness. They don't need to be mistreated, but we can't risk having them free to do us harm. Also if people know that if they show psychopathic tendencies there is a good chance they will be locked up they will do a much better job of self regulating.

Three hots and a cot with cable tv and a weight room for the rest of your life is not much of a deterrent. People who do heinous things to other people should be made example of in public. Hanging seems to me to be the best way that is "humane" that no one wants to have done to themselves. Bring out the gallows and have our children witness what happens to those who do bad things. We must deter those who would do us harm. This is going on offense and in my opinion as necessary as going on defense.

More people die by knives than guns. I don't hear a cry for knife control or a ban of any type of knife. Simply ridiculous. You can't blame the tool.

Steve

Steve, I like the idea of public executions. I would just make one change. Instead of a gallows, use a guillotine. The person will not suffer, and we can have the next inmate in line pick up the pieces and clean up the mess. It would be cheap too !! Not having to spend thousands of dollars for chemicals that might expire before they can be used.
