RL15.5 & 7mm-08

Going to shoot 120 & 140 TSX's (which I have a decent supply of).

Anyone have load info? Starting would be fine. I've been using RL15 for a long time just don't want to blow primers if I can avoid it.

FYI, guys I know using it are loading pretty much same as RL15 - in 6BR & 6BRDX. Their results are very good - equal or better accuracy, very clean compared to 15.

Iv'e been wanting to do the same except with 131HH's. I haven't seen any actual 7-08 load data available. Extrapolating from the .308 loads as compared to Varget, and 7-08 loads with rl15, I'm going to load in the 39-40gr area to start.

I have only used it in a 300 Wby. It achieved the same vel as rl16 with 6g less powder.

I ended up around 47-48 grains with those components so I would not recommend you start above 44 grains of Varget.

I tried some Varget with the 131's last week and stopped at 43,6 for 2908 fps from a 22" barrel. What @Carlos88 and I are looking for is a starting point that's well into the safe zone with TS 15.5. Alliant hasn't as yet added any data for the 7-08 and TS 15.5. Iv'e used 15.5 in a creed with 120's and 123's and it did real well.

FWIW we run Varget at about 3100 fps with the 131g Hammer Hunter. That was with Lapua brass. I will be anxious to hear your results with 15.5.

I would use the same starting load as 15 and work up with r15.5 there can't be over a gr or so difference in my opinion.

Not the TSX, but I used a 120 gr TTSX and RL-15 in my 7mm-08s for a number of years. I was loading 44 gr of RL-15 for two rifles with 22" barrels. I don't have the velocity info at hand, but I took plenty of elk and deer with that combo.

From my son's 22" barreled 6.5 Creedmoor TC Compass using TS 15.5, 40gr pushed a 123gr SST to 2840fps and a 40.5gr pushed a 120gr Speer Gold Dot to 2860fps, both in Lapua brass and both were accurate with no visible pressure signs.
