So im putting together my gun / reloading area . I have a 12 ' wide by 6' deep area im constructing into a closet with a barn style door to close it off . It will have countertop high bench for standing or stool . Plenty of lighting and outlets for stuff . What are the things you guys have wish you would have added to your reloading rooms ? Perhaps a bit larger! I went from a very large room in the '90's to a much smaller room in our new home……I'm hate'n life! memtb

Good Luck….I hope that it works out good for you! The one I have now, is actually a little smaller that your dimensions! I know how it is to be forced to work within certain parameters! memtb

Do what best works for you for you, not what others have. My entire basement used to be my reloading area (and garage) before the major renovation, but was not very organized. I now have a dedicated room, but still in the process of putting it together.

I would not go less than 12x12. I built a room in my barn (which was a 40x60) and wish I had gone to 12x20 and it is built like a house with heat and air and tons of light. good luck

Cabinets with doors above the bench and drawers or cabinets below, leaving room for your chair/stool. It's nice to have a neat reloading area with nearly everything off the bench when not in use.
Don't forget to use a dehumidifier during any season that causes the humidity to rise above 50% in your basement.

I now have a dedicated room, but still in the process of putting it together.

I think I have been putting mine together for 7 or 8 years now that I finished the building. Maybe I'll finish soon.

Lots of shelves. One for all brass, one for bullets, one for powder , primers and one for loaded ammo. Small area for cleaning and two presses one for loading and another so I don't have to swap dies constantly. Customize your area. Sound like you have a plan

I have the 11'x13' spare bedroom at my house. It feels small with all the stuff in it.
I have a full set of school lockers, war wagon rolling tool chest, smaller rolling tool chest, full work bench, plenty of drawers/storage, LOTS of LED lights all over, big gun safe, closet with shelves.

Need the cabinets never enough draws but out of the way and deep enough. If doing SHOT room for the hulls and wads and strong enough to hold the 25lb bags of shot var sizes, Big enough for extra toys in the future and deep enough to keep work area clear. Mine is U shape one side for pistol another for Shotgun and all the machines and one for Rifle and all the machines,' Am still running my RCBS Green machine and other presses. Never enough room or TOYS good luck with your shop ( Claim all the room you can while you can get away with it.)

My bench is a solid core door that is 36 inches deep away from wall. All it does is collect stuff. I'm going to cut it down to no more than 24 inches from wall and may go as little as 18 inches. Flat surfaces just collect things.

I mounted all my stuff on oak 2x6x12 inch blocks and just clamp them wherever i want.

Press is always furthest thing to right of bench for me.
