I've come across several IMR powders, 4064, and 4895. The 4895 is primarily set aside for long range steel shooting. I was hoping for a great BC with a hunting bullet using the 4064. Does any one have any loads worked up for something in the that bullet weight .

168 NBT, is that 168 Nosler Ballistic Tip?
Yep. They have a 165 and a 168. The 168 has a BC of .490 where as the 165 is somewhere around .435 I believe. They work really well to about 900yds and then start to tumble. They are not very good for long range target work over 900yds. I did get a groundhog in the head at 632yds with the 168 though. I shot a 1.5" 3 shot ground at 718yds on steel with them, and a .116" 3 shot group at 100yds. They were quite accurate within its limitations.

Nosler also offers a 165gr Accubond. I got a box of them at home to load up in .308's for myself, but I don't use my .308 for hunting at the moment. So now they're there for buddies who hunt with .30 cal rifles. From what I've been told, they work great. Got a buddy that I loaded up a box of 20 165's for him to hunt with. Can't remember the exact load data, but I used Varget, Hornady Match .308 brass, and Fed primers. I'll have to look up the amount of grains I used...

the berger 168 hunting vld works well for me both steel and hunting. berger suggests start of 38.5 gr. to 42.6 gr (max) with the 168 hunting vld.
I found that imr8208xbr shoots better in mine. 1/2 moa to 700 yds.

I was using AR-comp for those groups and numbers I told you about. I now use Reloader Power Pro 2000MR. Greater velocities and accuracy is outstanding. ES's are a little harder to nail down, but it works well with these weight bullets.
