Guys I've been playing with my 6.5-06 off and on for about 4 months Using 147 Hornady's and h4831sc. I have some imr 4350 as well
I'm just wondering what powders others have found to have the best ES and SD? Also wondering what brass has done the same?
The H4831sc is doing pretty well. It will do 3-4 very consistent shots and then had an oddball that's 20fps low. Not bad and I expect may be brass related. Just seeing what works for other folks.

I always find better results necking down than necking up.
My 338-06 is a prime example, necking up from 30-06 takes a good 3 shots to iron out the shoulder/neck juncture to avoid a donut developing.
For my 338-416 Rigby Improved 45°, necking down in 3 steps is necessary because forming the case also takes 3 steps prior to shooting it for the first time.
I like H4350 in the 30-06 case for light bullets and H1000 for the heavies.

Cheers.

In my 6.5 Sherman (270 Win) parent case, N570 worked great with a 140 Berger. Got me 3339 FPS out of a 28" Hart. This is quite an improved case with shoulder moved forward and taper blown out, so not sure how it would work in the 6.5-06. But if you have some, it can't hurt to try it.

Recently I've started working with Staball HD and the 130g berger AR hybrid in a 6.5/06 A-Squared chamber. I treated it similar to Retumbo as it is slightly slower than Retumbo. With the wide variety of chamber specifications in 6.5/06 out there I don't list powder charges on the public forum.

Mine is 6.5-06 A Square Match. Criterion. The match is supposedly throated to accommodate longer high BC bullets

I have been considering one of the 6.5/06 chamberings for a while. The AI version seems very intriguing. 3400fps with decent weight projectiles sounds fantastic!

For powders, anything good for 25 Neider (.25/06) and just slightly slower in chart should be good choices

I've had success with 4831sc, rl-26, and n565 and 568. 4831 has been very accurate but havent got the velocity that i have from the others. But obviously availability of 4831 compared to others is hard to beat right now.

N565 is the only powder my 6.5x280AI liked with the 147s. 2986fps using Hornady 280 brass fire formed. Look at your neck tension to lower the gap on your Es/Sd
