Well load testing is done on my new 300 WSM I did on a long action Defiance ANTIX with a 23" Benchmark carbon barrel. Running a 215 berger at a mild 2685 fps and a ES of 8-12 fps for 10-18 shots. Most consistent load Ive tested PERIOD. Using .005 neck tension. Powder charge node is almost a grain wide. Did a seating depth test and had 5" vertical for 18 shots at 840 yds. 3 shots per seating depth. Most were 3" or less vertical at 840 yds. .029-.032 off shot the smallest though. This rifle and load has shot a pile of awesome groups already. Every time I take it to my 840 yd target its under 1/2 moa vertical.
Rifle has the following:
Defiance ANTIX
Manners LRH in high plains camo
Benchmark 23" 9.0 tw sendero light
Hawkins Hunter bottom metal and 3 round flush mag w spacer
Triggertech Diamond set at 1.5 lbs
Nightforce ATACR 4-20
TBAC Dominus SR suppressor
MDT lightweight double pull bipod.
Weighs 9 lbs 12 oz with optics and no suppressor or bipod. 10 lbs 10 oz with suppressor.
My goal for this rifle was to have a mild and stupid accurate load in the 300 wsm so I would get 2000+ rounds of benchrest accuracy out of it. The powder Im running is cool burning and clean. Ive had almost zero throat erosion so far. In the neighborhood of 15xs less throat erosion than a 28 nosler would at this point. The 215 at 2685 FPS still has enough energy to take elk at 900+ yds. And the difference in wind drift between the 215 at 2685 FPS and the bigger magnums isn't as much as youd think. You cant shoot or call the difference in wind. Only difference between the wsm and my norma improved would be down range energy.
