Recently picked up a 300 WSM, it's a kimber montana gen1. Got it for 300$. Couldn't pass it up. The guy told me it was a tack driver with 150's, however. I do not want to shoot such a light bullet for moose, black bear & elk. I've got a bunch of factory 180's from nosler. And they shoot about 2.5" @ 100, so I loaded 168 ABLRS's and got them to group right at 1". I prefer heavier in the 180-210 range. What bullets do u guys shoot in that range and what powders have u guys found took best. I have a decent variety, but just trying to save time. Thanks in advance, safe hunting.

I propel the 215 Berger at 2850 FPS with RL-17 out of a 24" barrel. If I do my part, it is .5-.75 MOA to 966Y.

I have a 22". So I was hoping for the 2750-2800 with the RL-17, but have heard good things about the H4831ssc.

It may be the twist that is limiting you. My factory gun just would group bullets heavier than 150's

Thanks

300 WSM and hunting 180's x RL16, the 4350's, and a handful of other powders lit by a quality Magnum primer works really well @ 2850 to 3010 fps within a wide distance range dispersion that reliably reaches to 700 yds dependent on the fine tune of rifle components during 'smithing/assembly.

180gr and under use H4350
180gr-200gr use H4831sc or H100V
Also reloader 26 works.

My current load is 64.5gr H4350 with 178gr ELDX doing 2915fps with a 20" barrel. Same load was 3025fps with 24" barrel
