I recently purchased some Peterson brass in 7 PRC for a custom build on a Defiance action. I have been measuring neck wall thickness variation between 12.5 thou to 16 thou, with the bulk falling within 13-15+ thou , on each case, a minority of the cases were 1 thou or better.
I have taken off any burrs on the case mouth prior to measuring on a ball micrometer made for this operation.
I have measured several after putting them on a .284 mandrel , which changed the overall numbers but the variation was still present. I called Peterson , they told me I was measuring wrong, but I get consistent measurements on my lapua brass, all under .001", and my RP brass consistently under .002"
So basically no love from Peterson, just wondering if anyone else is see numbers like this. I usually try to neck turn the high side off to clean the necks up a bit to keep the ES and runout down
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance
