I purchased a Remington 700 .308 for my wife. Going to do some load development for it, but don't really know where to start. Powder? Bullet weight?
It is has a 26" 1 in 12 barrel. Any thought on which powder and bullet weight for this twist rate and barrel length in a .308.

What is your intended use of the rifle? Target or hunting and what game if hunting?

Hodgdon Varget, Berger 168 VLD's, Federal 210M primer, Lapua brass, seated to 2.810" COAL.

I have the new Wilson Combat Super Sniper .308 AR. It has a 20" heavy fluted/threaded barrel w/1-10" twist. From what I've read you are limited to the lightest bullets with such a slow twist rate. But my load for the Nosler 165 gr. Accubond is 44.40 gn. of Hodgdon BLC-2 powder in a Nosler case and a winchester Primer. C.O.L. is 2.80". It's a spherical powder and easy to meter and control weight charges down to +/- .025 gr. with my AND EJ-123 scale (this is measuring hundredths of a grain... NOT tenths of a grain). It's pushing 2550 fps @ the muzzle. I'm getting 00.25 MOA -00.30 MOA groups @ 100 yds. My chamber is tight so I think you'd be safe with this load. But always start out -10% just to be safe. Good luck!

308's are easy to make accurate with a wide variety of bullets and powder.
I use varget/168 eldm, 2.805 coal. I've also used lapua 155 scenars. Both work great but u can hunt with the eldm.
Imr 4064, h4895, bl-c2 are popular powders for a 308. With a 1:12 twist stay with 168 or lighter for max stability.
