Hello everyone ,just found this site today , happy I found it.
I am making up some loads for a 308 norma mag .
Was going to buy some 190 grain Match kings BT and load them with 4350
Rifle is an old Browning FN BBR in mint shape
But those Matchkings , are they ok for big game or are they only for target use.
Have not seen any Game king Sieara in 190. Are they out there ?

Could anyone share some load data what worked in their 308 mag, is 4350 the way to go or should I go with 7828 and a different bullet for big game.
Was thanking also about using 168 BT

Sierra doesn't recommend using Match Kings for big game. They too often open up way too fast and don't penetrate. While these bullets do have their following for big game, it's risky. Sierra 180 and 200 grain spitzer boattail hunting bullets would be better; they were popular in competition before Sierra started making 30 caliber match bullets.

A good starting load for the .308 Norma Mag. is 62 grains of IMR4350 under the 190's. 65 or 66 grains was a favorite when this cartridges was used to shoot Sierra 190's in long range matches winning their fair share of them.
