Moly lube on bullets

Tell me about putting moly lube on bullets, the good, the bad and the ugly
As you probably know, Molly is a high-pressure lubricant. It will make your barrel last a little longer. It will even out your SD or ES just slightly. You'll probably have to step up a half grain powder from your normal load to get back to the speed you were at due to less friction equaling less

I give up, what is the "wet" method? I have a squeeze bottle of graphite. Are we talking about the same thing?

I am confused. Hydrophobic means pretty much it repels water. How would that promote corrosion? Unles you meant hydrophilic.
 
Molybdenum disulfide (moly) coatings can trap moisture against the steel of a rifle barrel and cause rust. This occurs because moly is hygroscopic, meaning it attracts and holds water.
That would make sense, except I thought it was hydrophobic, I ahve no experience with it.

I used molly years ago, it did not make much difference to loads, barrel wear or changes to internal ballistics or external ballistics.
About 10 years ago I switched to using HBN coated bullets to reduce friction, which it definitely does. You need more powder to get the same velocity as un-coated bullets.
The other 2 factors that are outstanding are the reduction in haze cracking and throat erosion. Both are reduced a lot.
My first 338-416 Rigby Improved barrel is very tired now, it has 889 rounds down, the first 470 had no HBN, only since then have they had the coating. Initially, I was using a custom turned solid BRASS bullet, 3 relief groove bullet and it produces huge friction, which is why I started using HBN. Now, I coat all bullets going in the new barrel, even my Cutting Edge comp bullets. Makes a big difference.
Only thing is, it is not like coating with molly, it has to be done at temperature, not cold, takes longer and more effort, yet my system is down and I can turn it on, it heats itself and then starts tumbling automatically, not a cheap device, but my investment in it was for better time management, not that I need that now since I can no longer work.

Sorry you can no longer work. I must sound awfully stupid, but I also have no idea what HBN is! Big Dummy🙈.

Is there any particular kind of moly to use??
