Long Range .25 Caliber Bullet Selection

I didn`t see this bullet noted in all the replys, but I`ve had very good luck with 108 JLK`s, if you can get them. I`m shooting a 250 AI., SA, 700, 2900 fps. Do not know the bullet BC, but come ups with a 100 yrd zero are, 200-1.5, 300-3.75, 400-6.25, 500-9.25, 600-12.5. This load shoots so well, 1.25 inch at 3, that I`ve not pushed the velocity. (Come-up`s are actually shot, not book.)
Kills deer dead.
Good Luck

The 125gr Matrix may be worth having a look at.

Or the 130/135gr. Makes 600yds silly easy from the 250AI.:D

Does Matrix make 130gr .257 bullets? All I can find on their web site are 100 and 125 grain bullets. You have a link to 130 and 135gr Matrix bullets?

Marshal has quite a few bullets that are not listed on the site, said he hasn't had much time to upgrade it yet. I'm sure if you send him an email, he will forward you the info.
Met him a few times before he moved back to the mainland, nice guy and really didn't seem to mind answering questions or helping me with reloading tips/suggestions. Great bullets, too. Big part of the reason I'd like to build another 6.5-06.

Marshall sent some 130's and 135's at the same time as the first .264/160's.

I am guilty of sitting on them for that long,my bad.

I haven't taken the time to really wring them out yet, but the last trip to the range I had 2 1/2 gallon jugs set at 600 to test some .308/240gr bullets the had recently arrived and loaded up some 130's to test at the same time .
At 1.29" long I was not sure how stable they would be at that range as the SD is 1.39 for the 130 and 1.45 for the 135. @2750fps, 5300' altitude. They performed very well at that distance,

That said I was just beginning to search for who makes a 9.5 twist barrel as that I think would be ideal. ( .257 Sherman:rolleyes:)

As far as I know I have the only ones made, although there may be others that have some that I am not aware of,give him a call if you are interested.

BTW I used 115 Berger BC for a starting point.

Good to know. I'd been scouring the web sites searching for a higher BC .257 hunting bullet, finding nothing better than the 115gr Bergers. Thanks.

What twist rate barrel did you shoot the 130gr bullets with?

I have one box of the original Wildcat 130gr RBBT bullets and want to try them in my 10 twist 25 RUM. I'm considering a 9 twist barrel, if I can find a reliable source of bullets.

Hi Paul.....at sea level, I calculate 8.75 about optimum......Rich

I am shooting them out of a 10 twist barrel. At 25 RUM speeds they should be outstanding. The best group I've shot was 2960fps. definitely too hot for the little 250AI.

I see that Pac-Nor and Shilen both offer 9 twist.

So the 135's are stabilizing out of a 10" twist? That is awesome news!
