Lead Poisoning

How did you not know? Its been all over the forums, magazines, news etc for nearly 20 years. There's even pictures of condors eating lead paint off of old fire lookout towers. It's been a BS feel good liberal gun grab from its inception. And now eagles are taking over as the status symbol instead of condors since condors are rare and eagles are 'Merican.

Why aren't turkey vultures, ravens, coyotes, bears, lions, squirrels, etc etc dieing also? Why only "rare" birds?
Screw it I'll get rid of my Jeep and the new 33" mudders I just got yesterday. Trade it in for a Prius and some Birkenstocks. Give up eating meat except for that plant based stuff. And smoke pot since Oregon it's legal. I'm sure everything will be alright after that.

I participated in the documentary with the agreement that I could view the final product and if there was any hint of anti gun agenda I could refuse participation. I don't see any hint of anti 2A or anti hunting in the documentary. The goal of the documentary was to give information to hunters and let them know that there is choices other than not hunting. As a copper bullet manufacturer, I am dead set against legislation or banning of lead ammunition. I would rather have people use our copper bullets because they have found it too be a superior product rather than being forced to find an alternative due to government control.

I grew up hunting and fishing. I thought I was an environmentalist, until sometime in the late 80's when the term was hi jacked by leftist whack jobs that are using the term to advance socialism in a wicked vailed way. As a hunter I value nature and all the wild wonder that is in it on a level much higher than any of those leftist. I believe most hunters are the same as I am. At least the ones I know. I believe we, the hunters and outdoorsmen, are the true environmentalists and it is about time we take back the title. Just because the whack jobs stole our moniker doesn't mean we can't be seen caring about wildlife and the environment, that we all value at a level higher level than any of them do.

Yes the whack jobs use these issues against us. Reacting to them by bulling our necks in the opposite direction makes us look like they want us to look. Like we don't care. Talk about kicking our own ***... We do their work for them.

Birds have the ability to break down lead in their digestive system in a way that other animals can not.

The democratic party has claimed that they don't want to take away your guns. They've been saying that for decades. I say their actions say otherwise

As far as I know Bald Eagles are scavengers. https://avibirds.com/scavenger-birds/
To derail this thread, I'll add that the republicans sit on their laurels and let it happen. They're just as culpable.

Yeah, their percentage of carrion diet is quite a bit less than a vulture for example, but that should mean they are less threatened by lead. Vultures are not as "important" or "endangered" as eagles which probably explains the greater emphasis on the birds with lower population numbers and more protective interest. Noone is concerned about the "uglies". 😉 In the grand scheme of things, lead consumption is miniscule as a threat to animal welfare compared to other issues. It's just that we don't help ourselves by denying the threat. Eagles do have some national/patriotic significance, so I have a soft spot for them. 😎

And to be fair, I shouldn't have said or implied the scavenger types are more resistant to lead. It was a shoot from the hip thought based on their ability to consume disgusting stuff. 🤮

Environmental knowledge, understanding, impacts upon environment is a knowledge database that grows with data. Years ago hazardous waste indiscriminately dumped without thought, wastewater discharges without treatment, air pollution controls, automotive emission controls all result of gaining knowledge and environmental impacts. Denying actual data that confirms an environmental impact is no different what previous generations did that is being paid for present and future generations. We cannot do same for our future generations.

Sportsmen are the true stewards of protecting our environment and we need to embrace data when it affects our realm and address it with viable actions to improve it whether it affects what we like to do or not.

Well said, brother. What I was trying to say... 👍

A few republicans like Arnold. I believe one firearms company supported the assault weapons ban because their goods didn't look like the evil black rifles. Other organizations which I'm trying to find. It was once published but disappeared a few years ago.

Yup I hear it. I agree there is an issue, but to what degree? It's like coal energy. Yes it's the dirtiest source of energy but it's the cheapest. And in an economic war we need cheap energy. But we subsidize solar and other green energy. So why is China using more and more coal and oil electrical plants when they are the largest manufacturer of solar panels? Woke thinking? Paid off? Or are we just that stupid?

Republicans and Democrats, for the most part, are all just part of the ruling class.
