And on that note, when people who aren't acquainted with real cold stuff want to know what's the most important piece of winter clothing it's no question in my mind: BOOTS!!! Real warm durable winter boots. If you don't have a real jacket you can put on 5 sweaters and look like an idiot but not freeze. But if you don't have appropriate footwear you're done whatever you're doing in a hurry!

100 percent. That and my fingers. My ears I can take care of and be sweating in a jacket but have frost nip on my fingers and toes

Me....when it dips below 40°F...

We were working a job out in the desert near Gila Bend, AZ in June-Aug. We started at 4:30am, and would knock off at 1:30pm when it would hit 118-128°.

SOCKS!!! Feet, hands, neck, and balls, extra socks warms them all!

I used to have a pair of Cabela's all-leather boots with 1200g Thinsulate in them, they were too much of a good thing.
