i hurt my ankle jumping down a tree early this year....i tried pulling it back to place but it hurts too bad and i couldn't do it myself, my partner had no experience doing such thing so he was no help at all. the hunt came to an end, but i can't help but thing what if we were attacked? and i am sure this must have happened to people somehow somewhere. please f you have any experience in such circumstances plus share.

Thanks.

779, a friend on an elk hunt with us ate some deli turkey on a sandwich getting food poisoning. He spent about 36 hrs in his tent, felt better and ate another turkey sandwich not knowing it was bad. Missed 4 days of the hunt and we had to take him to the nearest town for IV fluids to treat dehydration. Thankfully he recovered and thankfully no one else ate the turkey. We noticed his ice chest had very little ice. A good reminder to freeze camp food or keep it very cold.

talking about bad luck smh.

Fell while hunting Leopard in Zimbabwe and got compound fracture of shoulder. Tied my arm to my body with a sheet and hunted for 5 more days until the edema got so bad they locked me in the truck and took me to Dr. Took another 5 days to get home and had surgery on day of arrival to insert plates etc. Bone ended up dying and had a full replacement 2 years later. No paid meds in Zimbabwe other than aspirin.

No Leopard this time. Finally got one a few years later.

wow, what an adventure, i am glad you survived that, i really do think all hunter should have a little med training just in case, hunting can be dangerous, you are lucky to be alive bro.

I used to take with me round of antibiotics, and pain meds. I took a full pack spill after I shot my goat. Fortunately it was back at the lodge while regrouping for bear. Fished some, road hunted a bit, but getting into, and staying in a shooting position was enough I didn't take a bear, in spite of having multiple opportunities.

You have to hunt with ex war veterans mate they know how to fix things and give a lot medial type assistance . I have put a mates knee cap back in , put a guys shoulder back in , set a broken leg good enough to get to hospital with minimum pain after bike accident also had some pain killers in my kit . I would have strapped your ankle and assisted you to a cold creek or dam , in my younger days carried you if necessary and soaked the ankle to reduce swelling . Then after the initial pain reduces , strap it with elastoplast ( sticking plaster tape ) in a horseshoe brace and bandage it .
Once out of the woods , get two buckets with ice in one and hot water in the other and give your foot contrast baths to reduce swelling , reduce pain and speed up healing .
I would have you back on your feet in a few days . Only soldiers really know how to fix the body when it's either walk or die .
