Cooling a barrel 🤔

With a new barrel, I will shoot 1, clean, etc. until I seen a reduction in fouling, usually less then ten shots. Shoot 5, clean….done. My hunting rifles are not shot more then warm to the touch, 3-5 shot strings. Depending on the time of year/temperature, they either sit till cooled down, or use on occasion, I'll use an air cooler. My competition rifles that see long strings are shot to match the conditions of competition…..usually 10+ strings in the hot summer months, and cleaned at a minimum, the typical shot volume experienced the day, sometimes more.. My hunting barrels last for several years…..My competition barrels might last a season or two.
