Comparing the Berger 210 VLD to the 215 Hybrid

gun)gun)gun)I think I'm in love; 215s are the ticket. just ran the first 30 rounds through my new custom 300WM. working up from 73.0 -H1000 and .085 jump. these things are amazingly easy to work up a load, far easier than the VLDs.
I've not yet ran these over a chronograph but guessing I'm 2,800 ish. Load is 75.2 gn H1000, once fired Norma brass and .085 jump with zero signs of pressure at this point. group is well under 1/2" @ 100 yrds.

215 Berger
Jeff, looks like the 75.2 gr is running right at 2,932 fps and grouping well. I did load 3 each 75.4 & 75.5 and still no pressure signs. 75.4 actually grouped better than the 75.2 but I only had 3 rounds loaded so the better group may have been some luck. The 75.4 gets me right at 2,948 and only 16 moa adjustment at 750 yards. was able to consistently reach out to the 750 yard gong today with the 75.2 gr loads by dialed 16.5 moa. Zero at 100
215s are the ticket in this rifle

Got a box of these bullets (215 Hybrid, that is....) to try out when my barrel arrives.

What load would you reccommend with H1000 and Norma MRP powders ?

And how far from the lands ?

Thanks a bunch.
:)

I have only used H1000 in my WM and RUM. But 30 or 40 thou off seems to always work for me. The 215 is so forgiving I am sure you will find a load in no time.

Great read and is where I started with load
development for my 300WM.
I'm currently running 75.5 gr H1000 but this
1.5 gr over ABOVE max in the Berger book so work your loads
up. I started at 72.5 and loaded 2 each at .5 gr increments
I am NOT shooting a std production rifle either. This one
is a custom and throated for the 215 Bergers.
Understand you need to work up from a known safe load to obtain
your max. Follow Broz article here and you will have success
Good luck.

So does a guy use the BC listed on the Berger web site for the 215 ? Because the box that I have says 0.696 , the web site says 0.691 and I use Isnipe on my phone that says 0.709 ?

Hello, new to the forum here...

I have read many of your posts Broz, but not all of them, so I apologize if you have already answered this question.

I have an older Sako 75 chambered in .300 Win Mag with a 1:11 barrel twist. From what I have found it appears that I am limited to a bullet that's 200gr or less.

I'm only interested in hunting with this rifle, mostly elk and mule deer. Any ideas what differences I should expect using the Berger Hybrid Target 200gr bullets rather than the phenomenal results you are getting with the 215 "Hybrid"

BTW is that a Hybrid Target or a Hybrid Hunting bullet ?

Thanks
