Compare the Berger VLD and SMK

Maybe this a stupid question, but exactly what are the differences in these two bullets? I am mostly looking at 30 cal. bullets 180gr. or less.

The Bergers use a thinner jacket and softer lead core than the SMK. the VLD series bullets have a big advantage in BC over the SMK's in the same weight. They do act differantly when you load them , the Bergers seem to like to seated into the lands and don't like max pressure loads , where you can fudge the SMK's a little
