Bergers!
Berger without a doubt. Loaded up sone hornady 162 gr SST for my elk hunt last year. They were very accurate, however I knocked three different elk down (flat on the ground) all three got up and left. No blood, hair, or bone. I looked until the following day for each with no success. I will punch paper with hornady, but Berger or Nosler are my go to hunting bullets.I am new here and trying to get my posts up so I can send a PM. what does everyone prefer, Berger or Hornady? I personally prefer Berger for both comp and hunting.
I actually use both plus Sierra and Noslers. My favorite is the Nosler Partition, 165 gr for the 308 and 30-06, 180gr for the 300WM. All are superbly accurate after you fine tune your rifle to the load. Anything you hit in the right placewith any of those bullets is going down for the count.I am new here and trying to get my posts up so I can send a PM. what does everyone prefer, Berger or Hornady? I had good luck out of both, but overall the Bergers have been more accurate especially at longer ranges. The ELDx 175gr 7mm was very accurate in my fathers LRM but not so much in my 7mm LRM. We used that rifle to make the longest shot I have personally witnessed on a Coues deer. It actually went diagonally across the deer and exited the far shoulder tip. Frankly I have not used anything but Bergers to take game for 4 years. About 4 years ago I did shoot an elk with my old 300 WSM using a 180gr Nosler Accubond. My wife and I just used my 6.5 PRC, shooting the Berger 156gr EOL to take 18 head of plains game in Africa. All were 1 shot kills except for 2 poorly placed (user error) shots on a Lechwe and an Impala, then 2 good shots on an Eland which was 500 yards. The Lechwe and the Impala were disabled just need another shot to finish both due to shots that were too low. Point being, with the bullet going into the right spot all the others basically dropped with-in a few yards and some were DRT. Every Coues buck I have shot or my family has shot in recent memory have all been with Bergers and they all end DRT. My son is shooting the 7mm 180gr VLD Hunting in his LRM and his previous rifle, a 300 WSM, he was shooting the Berger 190gr VLD. Both have dropped elk and Coues deer at short and long ranges. I attribute the great results we have had from the consistent accuracy these bullets provide allowing shots to be placed on the vitals 99% of the time.I am new here and trying to get my posts up so I can send a PM. what does everyone prefer, Berger or Hornady? Overall length means nothing consistent ogive on the bullet means everything.Recently opened a new lot of 6.5 147 ELDMs and measured the overall length and set calipers to zero. After measuring 100 bullets 93 were within 0.001
