In the new Bergers reloading manual they give a OAL of 1.459" for their 210 grain (.308) VLD hunting bullet(P/N 30515). I went to trim the meplat just to square up the tip of the bullet but before that I measured the OAL and the measurement was .024" longer then 1.459".

My question is do I need to trim the bullets to achive the OAL of 1.459" or just square them all up to the same OAL"? If I trim off more then .005" (recommended) won't that mess up the BC and and the meplat!

Thanks in advance

I personally don't do anything to the meplats of the 210's and have found my accuracy, drops, and ES to be very consistent. The manufacturing process results in a variation of the tips, effecting the OAL of these bullets. I pay more attention to the ogive length which is usually within .002" even with different lots of the Bergers.
