Berger VLD question...

I shoot a Savage .308 and it likes 168 grain bullets at or slower than 2700 FPS. I shoot 168 gr Hirnady A-Max under 1 MOA all day.

I want a good factory load for shots between 50-350 yards, and I found HSM loads a round with both 168 and 175 gr Berger VLD's. I've read great reviews on this ammo, but the box says its designed for 300+ yard shots.

Has anyone taken deer size game with a Berger VLD under 300, say closer to 100? Is it effective? Any shots under 100? Result?

I got a whitetail buck (120lbs) at 20 yards with a 168grain VLD from a 280Rem. Deer didn't take a step.

I witnessed a buddy of mine shoot a 200 pound+ whitetail at about 75 yrds with a 190 vld and it was dead before it hit the ground.
