Any love for RL19?

Hey everyone! I was just perusing some powders on auction and noticed rl19. I've used it before, a long time ago now, seemed perfectly useable but unremarkable.

Anyway…I see all kinds of love expressed for rl17, rl22, rl25 (I love this one, along with imr7828 it's very underrated nowadays as a good butt-kicking magnum powder), rl23, rl26….

Seems no one has much to say good or bad about reloader 19. It's an afterthought or something (like IMR 4831, no one raves about that powder, but h4831 is an INSTITUTION haha)

Anyway…does anyone here LOVE or HATE rl19, have any pet loads that it does better than anything else, or is my suspicion correct, that at this point no one cares or has anything good or bad to say about it anymore because no one really considers it at all?

While I do have some on hand I've yet to use any. As far as imr4831 goes I've used it in 264wm and for a while in 270win (until changing to imr4350 & 4320). 7828ssc will go into use on 6.5prc, 7saum along with some other long action mags. RL19 will also be used in 7saum, 243win and maybe 7-08rem, possibly in 260rem also? With 19 and hunter being difficult too find I'm not sure what will be used?

I have several kegs of RE19, it is my go-to for 257AI, 25-06, 30-06, 7-08, 338-06 & 338WM. RE19 is the bees knees in '06 based cases, the Roberts case and even 308 cases. It is miles ahead of any other powder in the 338WM with bullets from 200gr through to 300gr.
When the shortages hit, I called every store and bought up everything I could find, unlike you guys in the US, we cannot ship powder in Australia…I did a lot of travelling to get my powder.
Now, all Alliant powder is non-existent here.

Cheers.

That's interesting about the .338 win mag…If I get the stuff I bid on I'll have to try it in my .358 Norma mag, very similar case to bore ratio.

RL19 is one of my favorites. It is temp sensitive, but I am busy fishing when it's over 75 so I don't worry about it too much. Back when I was battling my prairie dog addiction there were no temp stable powders. I burned pound after pound of powders like H414, IMR 4831, 4350, 4064, and RL22. Just like RL19 I worked up loads in the heat if that was the intent, usually with lighter bullets, summer varmint loads and then hunting loads for when it was going to be -10 to 50 degrees. RL19 has always been consistent lot to lot and predictable getting to pressure. It was always easy to find as well, at least before the VID.

I use it with good results in a 300 WM with 168 grain BT.
Honestly, I have never tried it in any of my 300WM's. I have used it in my 340 Weatherby, but accuracy wasn't exactly great, 1.5 MoA is all I could get from 250gr Partitions, whereas RE25 was sub MoA.
I tried it in my custom 264WM and 7STW, both having lacklustre results. A little too fast for them both even with lighter bullets.

Cheers.
