Absolute Hammer load data

Yes sir, a 308 win. I was able to find a lb of Alliant Power Pro Varmint today when I was buying some more benchmark. After the holidays I will give that a try but unless I can really get up close to 3200 I probably won't switch. I'll give up the 50-100 FPS for the temp stability.

what powder and charge are you using? Once I am done with the 308 I'm going to move to my 06 but I'm leaning towards the 178. Steve said he got 3080... even at 2950-3000 that would be awesome!

add some more data for me please--weather this morning was 27 degrees, at 6500msl, with a 12 mph tail wind

the same rem700 30-06 as before, 178 AH (page 17 of the reload data chart)
61.7gr of RE23 shot 2908fps with a ES of 4fps (over 5 shots)--case is full, used 20" drop tube- compressed load
group was about 3/4" @100y

upped the RL 16 ladder just a bit
58gr was 2881
58.5gr was 2932
59gr was 2948
think I can go 1/2 to 1 full grain higher if I can fit more powder in the case , its pretty full-- no swipes or bolt lift issues at this point yet

62.0- missed speed but felt like a mild load
63.0-3222fps
64.0-3268fps
65.0-3328fps
66.0- missed speed
67.0-3399fps
68.0-3438fps, had very faint ejector swipe and slight bolt lift (max in my gun for sure)
I'll probably back down to 67.5 and try a group
might need a slightly faster powder, not sure---this is about 180fps faster than my 143hh load so its probably maxed out here--I had 2 distinct groups

300WSM- win XPR renegade long range SR-24" factory heavy barrel- 1:10 twist-1x norma brass, cci250, 3.075" coal
178AH- RL16 ladder
64.0gr- 3110fps with flat primer and slight extractor circle
65.0gr-3153fps with ejector swipe and slight bolt lift (max for this rifle)
had 66-68 loaded up but did not shoot
OK for a 180 in a 300wsm, but only about 50fps over max lead core book loads--think I need a faster powder, but did beat justjon's 300wm speeds by just a bit

6.5CM-TC compass- 21.625" factory barrel with 1:8 twist-1x S&B brass-cci250- 2.715" coal
109gr AH- varget ladder
41.0gr-3129 fps
42.0 gr-3178fps
43.0 gr- 3238fps all 3 had flat primer, but no other pressure signs
43.5gr- 3295fps-- blown primer, ruined PP
this same rifle shoots the 110HH @ 42.0gr varget at 3150fps
 
Finally found some time to start testing the 123 absolute hammer in my 6.5 creedmoor. I've had Peterson brass on order for several weeks, it still hasn't arrived so I decided to get started with some once fired Hornady brass that I had on hand. Cooper Raptor 22" barrel with a silencerco harvester suppressor. It was about 35 degrees today, and wind 10-17 mph might have affected some of the groups a little, but did manage to get a couple good ones. COAL is 2.865 Powder is Varget, primers are CCI 200 large rifle. Started at 38 grains and worked up in 3 to 5 grain increments, in 3 shot groups.

38.3 grains averaged 2,706 FPS with an ES of 6, grouped 0.51
42.0 grains averaged 2,923 FPS with an ES of 25, grouped 0.60

Had a little ejector mark on two of three rounds at 42 grains, 12 o'clock in the photo below. I'm thinking that may be all I can get with a 22" barrel, thoughts on pushing up any farther?

I've never loaded for 6.5CM but looking at Barnes data, you may want to go to a touch slower powder, maybe try CFE223 or power pro 2000. Both are ball powders and will be more temp sensitive than Varget but should let you get a bit more velocity. But if you end up settling on a load near max I would definitely recommend doing another workup if you shoot it in temps 20-30 degs higher.

You might want to read the whole thread-- these bullets don't use standard burn rate powders

In the creed I would try a faster burn rate powder
 
You might want to read the whole thread-- these bullets don't use standard burn rate powders
I have read the whole thread and get that these bullets like faster than standard powders...

the barns data has H4350/reloader17 speed powers for the 127lrx. Since he is seeing signs of pressure with varget wouldn't he want to try something slower than varget but faster than the standard h4350/reloader17.

Wouldn't going faster only mean he would see pressure with less powder than varget?
