Hello! Currently having a 22.5" supressed 7 saum built that is throated for the new 180 hornady eld (coal about 3.050)

Anyone have any load data or experience to share, expected velocities? There is almost no load data out there for short barreled, long throated, 7saum shooting heavies. Im hoping for 2800+ fps. I have alot of powders, H1000, H4831, h4350 ect.

Let me start by saying, I do not have a 7mm saum.

I'll just bump this and add that there has been a lot of praise around here for RL26 in short magnums.

RL26 is a bit slower than H1000, so if you have pounds that would be a good place to start.

In my experience with RL 26 it's a touch faster than H1000 both are great powders though but I sure wouldn't substitute H1000 data for RL26

Would you be able to fit a 180 hybrid in a SAUM case and keep it under the Rem factory mag box length of 2.825? Or would you need to go with a Wyatt's box, or maybe use a Winchester or Kimber action with their 3.0" mag box?

If you look back at Alex Wheelers post at 2.9 + you still have a bit of the bullet below the neck shoulder junction so in a Factory box there would be alot, I would definitely do a wyatt box.

I only meant good results can be had with H1000 - it was the most suitable of the OP's inventoried propellants. Interesting that you find RL26 faster. Are you sure about that, or is H1000 just a bulky powder? I ask because my info came from a burn rate chart.

In my last 7 SAUM H1000 worked well with the 180's, Retumbo even better. It was a long action, I can't say for sure but I would speculate that a short action would be better off with lighter bullets due to obvious length restrictions.

No my experience came from trying H1000 and RL26 in the same gun with the same bullets. I don't trust burnrate charts 100%

I am just starting load development with a 22" saum with r26 and 180 eldm also.
Just over 3" oal. Have not shot any yet but hope to soon.

Just wondering what you came up with? I am thinking really hard on a 22" 7 SAUM build. I would really like a short action but want to shoot the 180 VLD or the ELD's
