According to diagrams, the 6.5 prc is .015 longer, so would it in fact, come up short?I think it will come up way short
If I had a 338 die I could expand a neck and see how much shrinkage it has. But I'm betting I'd have to go up in stepsAccording to diagrams, the 6.5 prc is .015 longer, so would it in fact, come up short?
Yes, I plan on going up in steps if I decide, or if someone that's done it tells me it's possible or feasible. If I had a 338 die I could expand a neck and see how much shrinkage it has. But I'm betting I'd have to go up in steps
It can be done but you'll need several mandrels to do it.do you have an annealer?Yes, I plan on going up in steps if I decide, or if someone that's done it tells me it's possible or feasible.
I anneal my brass, but just not with a fancy annealing machine. It can be done but you'll need several mandrels to do it.do you have an annealer?
That just might be what I need. Do I need a special die to go along with that mandrel, or how does that work?I have a K and M tapered mandrel that works on 6 BR brass to make 30 BR in one pass, a .065" difference . Perhaps there is one you can get that would work in one pass. Difference is .056"
I would call this company and ask if their 338 mandrel would work.

If not, then you will have to go with a few mandrels as already mentioned.
That's kinda the process I was thinking about using to see if it would work. Does the graphite work better than, say, a spray on liquid neck lubricant.if done in steps is no problem, just ran one and brass shortened .017 and formed a doughnut so you will need to neck turn. i used .284, .308,.323 and .338 mandrels with neck graphite, will also need to be annealed when done.
i am not a fan of sprays. graphite has been my preferred method for years, but you can try the spray and if things don't work out then you can get powdered graphite at any local auto parts store. That's kinda the process I was thinking about using to see if it would work.
