6.5 PRC - Berger 140EH or 156 EOL

I have a cow and doe tag for the same season coming up this fall, going to take the 6.5 PRC.

Debating between the 140 elite hunters or the 156 EOL. Shots will be within 500 yards. MV on the both bullets 156 will be around 2950.

Given they both shoot the same…

I've heard people have had better results with the EH.

Am I over thinking it?

I'm shooting 156's with 58gr Retumbo at 2970 fps, very accurate 1/2 MOA at 600 yards.

I've only shot a few black bears with these so far, happy with the results.

I've had great results with 147s, I'd use them or 140 elite hunters over the 156

This is the last load I worked up on new brass. Still have not tinkered with it after brass had been shot on 2nd firing but super super accurate being new brass and consistent. There were two nodes you can pretty easily see.

I second Lance's response. I never did get the 156's to shoot as well as smaller bullets in two different 65 PRCs.

They are both EH's so construction is the same, unless you're talking about 140VLD. 156 will be a better bullet after about 700 yds otherwise it's a wash. Pick the one you can get and shoots the best.

I used the 156 in my 6.5 SAUM (GAP 4S) for the last 3-4 years to drop 1 Bull and 3 Cows, DRT. Ranges from 300-400 yards. I haven't tried hunting with in the PRC yet. The 140's worked great on Pronghorn in my 6.5 CM.

I've heard more positive results using the Berger 140 VLD bullets than all the others combined.
