Who has experience with the 33 nosler? Good? Bad? Ugly?

Im interested in it for another Long range hunting rig running supressed.

Any other suggestions on 33 cal cartridges with .540 bolt face in a long action?

I have a 338-378 Weatherby. I know, you can just go to the store and buy one off the shelf, but I love mine. My first kill was a small doe at about 70 yards with a Hornady 185gr CX bullet. To say that she dropped would be a waste of reading material. I have since switched to Berger 225gr TTSX and shooting hogs. It can't be my rifleman abilities that puts hogs on the ground where they stand, but they don't stand long. It gots to be the gun!

The 338 Sherman Mega or Mag are good options.

My 338 Mega is built on a Tikka action and it will drive a 225 grain bullet at 2900+fps. The Mag will get close to that with the 270s

The 33 Nosler and the 338 Rum?
Yes this was not your question.
I like the big Noslers, but the Rums and Edge. They are hard to beat.
Now a 33/28 Nosler, that would be Fun.
And if you like Nosler and I do a 33 Nosler is a good cartridge. I think Peterson is making brass. 👍

EDIT: I think I would do the 338 Edge.

I also have been very interested in the 33 Nosler. It looks like the best balance between a small 338 and the huge 338 ultra or 340 Weatherby. I just would want it throated out enough freebore for the right bullet. I believe the 33 Nosler is best around the 250 class bullet. Just make sure the bullet and weight you want to shoot meets the cartridge choice.

Just built a 33 nosler. Arc coupe de grace lightweight action and 23 inch hart barrel. I have an edge too but the nosler is plenty for launching 250 grain pills for hunting. Do it, won't regret it
We have a 33 Nosler Reamer, CDG Action, a hundred 33 Nosler Custom Brass and plenty of Different Powders, Bullets, Primers and I think Dies.
Ended up purchasing one and then another component to build a Hunting Rig to sell.
We shoot 338LMAILS

Are reloading for this rifle?

If not, the 33 Nosler may be your convenient choice, unless you go with the bigger 338s.

That said, for long range, the 338s don't come into their own until they are really moving the big pills. Energy, yes, velocity to open a bullet, not as well as the 7s and 30s. I have a 22" 338 Lapua and have been disappointed with the velocities. Don't buy the hype Nosler is saying about the 33 Nosler besting the bigger 338s.

I went to build a 33 Nosler and decided I needed a 338 RUM to launch the 300 grain bullets. For my use case I actually wish I would have just built the 33 Nosler as it would have simplified my multi barrel setup. With the extended mag requirements of the 338 RUM and 300 bergers I had to make a change to my action and change magazines. My other barrel on this setup is a 30 Nosler.

Yes I'd be reloading for this rifle, looking for a 33 that can be mag fed on a normal long action with extended mag box. Like to shoot 270eldx.
