Does anyone have any experience with retumbo in the 33 nosler? Specifically 250gr pills. Maybe 270gr if possible also? I have multiple reloading books with some data. Just curious if anyone had worked any up. Just picked up 10# here in Kenai Ak. Anything would be appreciated including some QL info if u guys r feeling generous

I know it's not what are asking about but I've got a lot data with H1000 and 250 elite hunters. 33 Nosler is one of my go to rounds.
Yeah I got h1000. Just seems too slow with the powders I'm looking at. My N560 and the little bit of Rl-26 I loaded up in some Berger OTM's ahot lights out. Just picked this up for my RUM and figured I'd give this a shot.

Retumbo won't help you with what you want.
I'm going to run a pressure test tomorrow with 250 smk and h4831sc. I'll post it up on my thread. Rl 23 will give me 75fps more than 4831 will but I don't want to use up my 23 for my target round. Same with rl 26 will do even better than 23 but I'm saving it for other bullets.

What speed are you looking to achieve with a 250 class bullet?
I loaded up some H1000 and 250's and was pushing them upper 2700's. Loaded some RL-26. And got 3020fps outta my 24" proof 1-9.4. Was looking at the hodgdon website and it showed closer to 2850 fps. My barrel runs faster than most of the book recommendations/data shows. Plus I am reading that retumbo is closer to RL-26 on the burn chart.
With H1000 my final load is 2910 fps with 250 EH's and Peterson brass my barrel is a 26" HCA (benchmark) 9.4 twist. I've got a ton of RL26. Im going to have give it a try if you're getting that kind of speed.
I should also qualify that by saying my 33 has a very long throat.
R u saying retumbo isn't fast? Or accurate? I'm not hurting for powder for my Nos. Just wondering if there's anything worth pursuing here.
Was loading 84.5 gr of RL-26 with my 250berger OTM, getting 3059fps with .8 minute @ 300yards. Just didn't have enough to continue the old development. So I shut it down and went to IMR-7828ssc and N-560.

Retumbo is going to be slow burn rate for the capacity and bore size. I did run the 250 cutting edge Lazer Max up to 2977 fps. Looking at speeds from the pressure test I'll be looking at shooting it in the 2840 fps range.
