Check out this group I fired tonight at 100 yards with my Dad’s old Remington 700 Varmint Special with Leupold 6.5-20x40 Target scope. Those 3 shots measure 0.067” center to center. Calipers pictured show 0.375 outside to outside. This old rifle and cartridge can still shoot some incredible groups. This is my personal best group I’ve ever shot at 100 yards!

.308 Winchester
168gr AMAX
43.6gr Varget
Remington 9 1/2 Primer
2.875 OAL
Peterson .308 Win Match brass!

Great group, and yes the .308 never lost it....contrary to popular belief as Holycity73 said newer and better is in the eyes of the marketer.I have the fast twist 6mm and 6.5mm and long after their barrels are toast I will still be shooting my .308. A rifle pic is required internet rules :)

I have a 700 LTR 20" Barrel.....never did a thing to it except adjust the 40x trigger a bit tighten the action screws to HS spec... Shoot H-4895 and a 168 Speer in a Lapua case over a Fed 210 primer..... gun is boring accurate!!! Shoots just under a inch at 300 every time if I do my part......this gun always amazes me

The older Remington 700 BDL Varmint rifle is one of a kind, I've owned many of them over the years in many different calibers and they all shot extremally well right out of the box. Great group, with a super cartridge and rifle combo. Cheer's
