Just wondering if anybody has heard of anybody running the 30 Nosler AI? If so what, if any velocity increase can one expect??

The Nosler cartridges are already about as Ackley Improved as you can get. They have minimal body taper and a 35 degree shoulder. I suppose you could go with a 40 degree shoulder but the gains would be minimal. The best way to squeeze a bit more velocity out of a Nosler is to mess with the freebore/throat of the chamber. This has been discussed a ton with reference to the 28 Nosler, so a site search will yield some good info.

Like

I would not increase the shoulder angle any more.

I would make a 300/28-Nosler. Oh, I did and love it. It has a little more capacity about 4 grains or so. Good for another 50 to 100fps on 210s. There's your improvement. If you use a Remington RUM action or a Mark V (300 Weatherby). It's just a new barrel and you will probably never have magazine length issues.

Thanks for the info guys!! I'm going to look into the 300/28 Nosler!! What kind of powder you getting those 210's to shoot the best with??

I used IMR 7828 and like it.

Use caution:

Like Ackley Improved, the starting load is close to the max load for the model case. You can look at the 30 Nosler loads for ideas.

I stretched the CAOL out to 3.505 that was .020 off for vlds of course there were other seating options.

I thought that PO Ackley died in 1989. How is it that he is still able to work? Aren't there laws about stuff like that?

Yes, there are laws about such stuff. It has become "common art". Not sure if that is the correct term. There are many things that fall into the same category. A manufacturer would not be able to use the terminology but as common vernacular to refer to something it has lost certain protections.

Like calling a "Shasta Cola" a Coke. Everyone does it.

I can't believe how naive some people are. PO Ackley didn't really die in 1989. He's alive and well and living in Cuba along with Elvis and Jimmy Hoffa.
