I have a 30-06 AI and a 30-06. I reload and I don't shoot a whole lot. Should I stick with the 30-06 or go with the 30-06 AI. I want the best performance from the bullet at the target.
30-06 AI or 30-06 I have both barrels.

I personally would stay with the standard 30.06 and use a 152 Hammer Hunter. I am loading Imr8208 at 48.6 grains and getting 2864 fps and that is with an 18" barrel suppressed, going to take it to Africa in one month and see what happens. shoots less than 1/2 groups at 125 yards

Never had the AI only the 06.
Considering you can get great brass for it without having to change case heads (270/280) to gain some performance. AI all the way.

Never shot an AI , but if you don't shoot much , go with the standard 30-06 .
Trade the AI barrel for some reloading stuff or ammo .

AI also likely means you'll never have to trim brass, if so it will be very infrequently.
If its a properly set up 30-06AI chamber AND you plan on reloading for this rifle then I'd go Ackley improved. You are not going to gain very much performance in a 30-06AI over a standard 30-06. Might get 50-100fps. But what you will get is brass that rarely needs trimming. And if set up properly you can still use factory 30-06 ammo with good results and have fire formed brass afterwards.
