28nos

I tried a pound of 8133 in my 28, I did not think it was any different than Retumbo. I noticed it was dirty in my 28, it was Carbon fouled pretty good after 20 rounds. I use RL33 with 195 Berger and that is the most accurate powder for me and the cleaning was no different for me than 8133. I have not found N570 in stock for years, so I have never been able to test it, but the velocity from what I hear is on par with RL33.
I saw just the opposite on carbon fouling. Could be the difference in bullet wt.??? My rifle won't shoot heavy bullets well for some reason. Shoots 162ELDX's like a bench gun. Everyone says that bullet is terrible. 1-9 Proof carbon, SAAMI reamer.

My barrel will be a 1:8 twist, I want to shoot no lighter then 168s but would prefer to stay between 175-195

I am game to try any powder, I currently have 7828ssc, H1000. Would love to get some 8133,us869,RL33, or N570

Try Norma 217 with your 160 range bullets. Sure works for us here. Norma developed it for the 30/378 and works good in all the over bore guns.

I have a 1:8 twist, in 195 gr Berger you will get to around 2800-2900, with RL33 between 3040 - 3075 maybe more depending on your throat it could go higher same thing if you can find the fairy dust N570. I imagine 869 will be up there too.

Has anyone used Norma 217 or US869?
I can't find any N570 or RL33, little concerned with the RL33 due to the hot summers and the possible cold winter difference here in Louisiana and with ppls issue with temp stability(I have personally never used) but I am willing to try lol.
I'm not sure if you can find retumbo but it would be my second choice behind n570.
You can call Bruno's shooter supply and prepay for n570 & get on the waiting list. They will call you when it comes in. I ended up waiting for a about 2-1/2 months.

Is anyone shooting the 160 accubonds in their 28s?
Not shooting them, but I checked how they would fit in my chamber with .280" freebore for the 195 bergers and they looked real good in that set up. I was just looking for other good options if my rifle didn't like bergers.

I ran 86.0 of rl33 with 180's at 3200 fps, very accurate load in cooler temps, but ran into sticky bolt at temps above 80 ish. Not acceptable for a hunting rifle.

Switched over to to H1000, 75.0 with a 180 hybrid at 3075, just as accurate, and no issues with higher temps. I'll gladly give up the 125 fps for the temp stability.

Magic dust arrived today so I can start having fun making a new recipe. Was using 87g of RL33 175 Berger with not a lot of problems but I'm in the great white north!
