What about R 26. I have a bunch.Rl23 is the cats meow, 24"s will do 3220-3240 dont know why a 22 won't knock on the door of 3200 with 140's and 3030 with 160's
My 22" bbl gets 2900fps with a 160gr Partition & R19. Accuracy is excellent with 5/8" groups. I get pretty much the same with IMR 4831. Kinda makes sense that slower powders need more barrel length for max velocity.20" 280ai r23 162 eldm @2950
Sorry, 21" bbl.My 22" bbl gets 2900fps with a 160gr Partition & R19. Accuracy is excellent with 5/8" groups. I get pretty much the same with IMR 4831. Kinda makes sense that slower powders need more barrel length for max velocity.
I believe powder is burnt 90+% at 16" in all but the most extreme circumstances.Kinda makes sense that slower powders need more barrel length for max velocity.
Interesting! It would seem that to burn the remaining 10%, more bbl is needed - but how much? I've also often wondered how much damage muzzle flash does to the crown. Seems the powder manufacturers would have these answers.I believe powder is burnt 90+% at 16" in all but the most extreme circumstances.
